The Ghetto and a Sea of Green

Hey blazers, been a while since I hung round here:wave:. Not a real good winter for my growing our favorite plant. Last crop was disappointing to say the least.

Was given a bunch of seed by several peeps and some were as much as 10-12 yrs old. Out of about 75 total seeds I had 15 pop for me. i have the feeling that none of the old seeds popped but that all of em that did were the few a buddy gave me from another growers product he got. Was told that a light leak is what caused these beans. Being a hydro guy I cautiously decided to do a sea of green under my 400W in the corner of my garage affectionately known as "The Ghetto". In keeping with the ghetto motif they are being done in 2 ltr soda bottles.

The beans were germed the first week of March, put into the 2 ltr bottles the 3 week and moved into "the ghetto"at that time.

Along with the unknown strain total of 15 I also have a Barney's Farm LSD and a Purple Haze. The 4 pics I have included tonight were taken this AM and they are on their 9th day of 12/12. May be quite a bit of optimism but I hope to pull bout 1/2 oz per.

Ghetto, come on bro. Give yourself some credit. Sure you save a few bucks here and there. But you do have a grow tent, a good light. And some good nutrients. Far better than your first grow.

You are too kind my friend:D Actually if I am gonna get back into the journals may as well and go all out. Got 4 seedlings in the tent right now and once they do SOMETHING I will open that journal. Got 4 strains in 4 pots on my recirq system. Got Blue Cheese (again) Got Pineapple Express. Got Wappa. Lastly I got Acapulco Gold.

Also I just took 3 clones from the LSD (didn't wanna cut too much outta her) and I got a bunch of a diesel I was given and that is gonna go outside in another month. That could be #3.......:smoke:

Holy Smokes!!!! You have a lot going on.

Reminds me of when I was doing inside and outside. It got pretty crazy and consumed my life. I can't say I didn't mind though.

Either way I am here for the ride. Grow buddies unite!!!!

Yeah they come as the flowers come. I have had my thread going for a few weeks and only have 3-4 peeps looking in. No sweat though. I usually see my Journal as just a log for myself to look back over.

Or build up a following by keeping a non-stop thread going.

Just finished my morning watering etc.... Pistils are starting to show in a few spots and the tops look ready to crown, not a nanner in site :hello:

So far so great!!!! Had been having probs with PH in dirt and ruined 2 moms I had going as well as crippled the crop of the Pineapple Express autos I recently harvested.. One of those was very nice the other 3 not so much and no matter what I did nothing helped and I ended up with as much from the 1 nice 1 as the other 3 put together. Bud is still super just not near what I had hoped for. I do have a handle on it now with the soil I am using. I am also using lime to sweeten it and am less afraid to play with waters ph to balance it out . Plants are so strong and vital and dare I say it..... Perfect!!

Just a thought, have you ever tested your water? Have you ever considered a Reverse Osmosis system. Try a batch of Vic's Super Soil. And use R.O. water and your mother's will thrive.

I got the Vic's Super Soil recipe from Rumple on these thread's and was told the reverse osmosis water was perfect for the formula. Pretty much keep that mother alive for a very long time with nothing but water.

As soon as roots hit the water in the tent I may open a new thread, or do you think I should combine it all into 1 bro? My scabbed together recirq system seems to be running smoothly so far. Not that I didn't have my normal drama already. Long story short..... HAD to change out 20 gals with ferts the first 24 hrs the girls were in there. As a result I now have to go get another Qt of PH down.

1 Bale sunshine mix #2 or promix (3.8 cu ft)
8 cups Bone Meal - phosphorus source
4 cups Blood Meal - nitrogen source
1 1/3 cups Epsom salts - magnesium source
3-4 cups dolomite lime -calcium source & pH buffering
1 tsp fritted trace elements
4 cups kelp meal.
9kg (25 lbs) bag pure worm castings

Oh and yes combine both grows and just change the title if you can.

After the service change and all the work on the new room. i kinda lost internist, But i'm up and running again. off to a slow start. so i put a few plants in bags. i'm still waiting on the ones in the BB to get going now.

Oh and i think i will be doing the barneys farm LSD outside this year. well thats my thought for now.

Hi Stinkie:wave: Nice to see you again....I probably have jumped up 1 rung above ghetto but the corner is was and will be affectionately known as such. Was where I learned a bunch and screwed up royally while doing so:D

Today is cloudy damp and cool, in other words a normal April day for here:rolleyes: A perfect day to update with new pix including a couple preview pix of my first run in a constant recirq system.
Nothing really new happening in the SOG. They are growing taller but after 13 days @ 12/12 no real pistil development yet although the tops look ready to crown.

As you can see the pool is getting crowded, and everyone is as green and purdy as I have ever done. Then we got the only 2 that are known strains. The taller of the 2 is Purple Haze and the other is the LSD. From the write up this should be the first to pull with the shortest claimed flower period and the PH will prob end up being alone while she finishes.

The remaining are a preview of the tent on the other side of the garage. Prior to this I was doing individual DWC buckets. As all can see I went ghetto style again putting this system together. Guess that's just my style:smoke:

Damm after a few days your post was hard to find. I dont really have anything great to show. is what it is... what are you using for fert's this time around. I haven't grown in soil for a long time. i just dont want to over fertilize this time.

i think that was my problem last time i did soil... anyways.

Started em out on fish fert but been using my GH in lucas formula.

:rolleyes:Here is the theory I came up with as far as the dirt is concerned.....Using tap water that is, seemingly overall, ok. Over the term of the grow mineral build up was causing lockout from beginning of flower. The problem comes on so slow that by the time you can really see something is going bad the damage has been done and the crop suffers for it in yield and quality.

So far so good on the theory so far in the ghetto:hello: Not a spot on any leaf and color is superior and I claim yesterday as the first day of true flower, it is also the 14th day of 12/12.
