Philly's Phantastic Grow

High all my good friends from the best City in the world!!!

I have decided to start a new journal for the fresh new set up and the jump to Riot Genetics. I am currently starting the Grape Stomper which is a strain extremely high in THC at 25+%. This is my 1st run with genetics that were not bought from one of the commercial seed banks. I am really stoked to grow these out. I can not say enough about Matt Riot. He is definitely a good dude and really looks out for his customers. I ordered 6 feminized Grape Stomper beans and he hooked me up with quite a few extra plus I also received a new strain of his called Fuckberry which is a cross of Angelfuck and Black Rose as a freebie!!! They are not fem seeds but once I run the Grape Stompers a couple times maybe I will switch.

I hope all the good folks that followed me on my last journal will find me here and follow along and I def hope to meet some new friends also.

Philly's High Hopes Perpetual Grow

I am running

Secret Jardin Grow Tent Model DR150W (5ft wide/3ft deep/6.5ft tall)

2 400 watt bulbs in dual cool tubes inline with each other cooled with a 6 inch 400 cfm
blower. (Dont forget to pull your air over your lights .... dont push!!!)

4 inch 170cfm blower for exhaust with a carbon scrubber(added when flowering begins)

6 Bubble buckets that I built with a 22 gallon reservoir(which is located outside grow area)
*These buckets were built based on the DIY thread from BUDSLiNGER.... THANKS DOOD!!
*1/2 in feed lines and 3/4 return lines attached to bulkhead fittings with an screen inside
the bucket to hopefully stop the roots from clogging drain lines.
*A 70 litre air pump that kicks ass!! with 6 inch airstones ... 1 in each bucket.
*211gph adjustable flow water pump that is adjusted all the way down to a trickle.
*Buckets are black with black 6in net pot lids and all black light proof tubing(except the
air lines which are clear
*Temp and humidity sensor with remote display sitting right next to the recliner. LOL
*NUTES - General Hydroponics FloraNova Grow and Bloom along with Floralicious Plus, Koolbloom
and FloraBlend. Also Bushmaster, Gravity and SnowStorm Ultra from Humbolt County's Own.
Cal-Mag Plus. I also use molasses during flush.


I will get pics once seeds pop and sprout and they are in rockwool and hydroton. Prob in about a day or 2.

IMO... Faster growth, Less mess, NO TRANSPLANTING and the number 1 reason in my mind is if a plant shows a problem or deficiency or an illness or even nute burn it can be easilly fixed quickly. You can drain your system and start all over instead of having soil that is soaked in nutes. Also pH is eazy peezy in hydro to keep dialed in. All the plants are getting the same exact feeding of nutes since the solution recircs in my system. that can be good and bad. If I have only 1 plant showing a problem there isnt much i can do for her cause I dont want to address her and then mess up the balance that is keeping the others stable. But the growth rate is soo much faster man. Once those roots drop into the oxygenated water with the nutes dialed in they take off. i have never grown in soil myself. i have 2 friends that do and they swear by it but they have never grown hydro. So it is to each his own. 1 thing though for sure is soil seems cheaper in my opinion. I have spent a lot of money on equipment even though I built the bubble bucket system myself. it took time and cash but then again the return on investment is well worth it and all my equipment can be used over and over sooo it is well worth it to me.

Any soil growers out there that have done both and choose one over the other I wouldnt mind hearing your opinions.

Where/how do you drain. I grow in a basement with no sink/tub/water spicket, etc... Draining and filling would be a pain it seems. Carrying water up and down stairs. Could use a wet vac to drain but then lug everything back up stairs. Same reason I am not going to flush my plants with 45 gallons. Besides some of the early buds are already tasty.

I've Done Both ways Soil (Well Soilless mix anyway) and BB's......I usally run Sex BB's so I don't need a Res....I just Clean and Fill with New Nutes every week....Been 5 Crops since useing a PH pen...I've Been Doing BB's Since 01' and Have used the Same Nutes for over 20 yrs and have it Down Pat!!

Yes They Grow Way Faster in BB's as you will see.....Me I've never done Seed From the Start....Hate waste my time and nutes on a Male....so either it's Sex them First then into The BB's or Clones.

Well 4 seeds popped so far in only a day so that is cool. After I make this post I will get them into rockwool and hydroton and into buckets and we will be on out way.

Unoit buddy!! Thanks for the input!! I have grown with bubbles before but in a common rezzy as you prob already know from my other thread. I am pumped about the bubble buckets though... I am pretty proud of them so far. Plus the extra 40 watter will shed some new light on the whole thing.... ahaha get it?? shed some new light.... LOL.

Abe I use my water pump that is used to recirculate the solution from bucket to bucket man. I push a piece of 1/2 inch heater hose over the outlet and now instead of recirculating through the system it is now pumping the system empty... I have to pump about 30 feet away. I use the same hose to clamp to my sink to fill it back up. The system holds about 35 gallons so fuck lugging that around in buckets!! I have to go 30 feet but I could pump it 100 feet if I had too man. Eazy as pie bro.

Ok everyone here is the video of my system that I had posted on my old thread. this has just been built. It took me about a weekend to do all of it. I will be periodically uplaoding videos throughout the grow. I am only going o do this whenever there has been a good amount of growth. I am not gonna put one up every day ya know?? Maybe 1 time a week or so. Of course I will still upload pics like crazy!!

Its a 211 submersible pump with a 1/2 outlet which is the size of my feed lines so I just remove my lie that the pump feeds and hook up a hose that goes to the sink and let it pump the system to empty. All the buckets drain back as you pump the rez out. I had a 660gph pump originally but that is WAY to much flow and the buckets fill faster than they drain so they start getting higher and higher and the rez starts getting lower. Eventually the buckets would overflow. So I bought a adjustable 211gph pump off ebay for like 14 bucks. I adjusted the flow way down and it works great!!

Thanks Nikki!! All 6 of my beans germinated so I moved them into the buckets using rockwool and hydroton. Set the timer and off we go!!
