hey I used this guide and it works great and everything,b tu I'm wondering why my hash is a thick black and sticky paste, as opposed to a powder. I'm going through my first wash and my hash is very sticky, black and potent. Very tar like. It gets the job done but it's so sticky that it's annoying. Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: I should mention I used the QWISO hash technique

Dear Hashmouf,

I was told that you could burn the ISO off with a lighter or something and that it skips this drying process so you can smoke it right away? I am skeptical, so I come to you.

In my personal experience, the QUISO melts into oil when you sprinkle it on a bong hit or whatever. Since the ISO is 92% or 184-proof, it would seem you'd end up with a burned oily goo because though the alcohol will burn off, the 8% of the water will remain.

I put the glass plate on a heating pad set on low, with an small fan blowing horizontally across the surface. It lessens the evap time to about 4-6 hours. If the place your cooking off the ISO is well ventilated and warm it will be completely dry (and scrapeable ) in 3-5 hours.

Finished my batch

Harvested the 3rd wash, I'm letting the 1st and 2nd dry a bit more then plopped them in the freezer to be easier to manage. Anyways i couldnt wait to try some so I smoked some of the 3rd wash already with the girlfriend watching cheech and chong and we're stoooned.

More pics to come of the other washes to come later.

It makes the room smell like alcohol, but thats it. No weed smell or anything. And i've done qwiso with 3 ounces of trimmings before. No smell, guaranteed.

yes you can use everclear 190 proof from the liquer store, I use it because I know it wont leave any weird shit in my hash.. Does iso leave any nasty stuff? I dont know but seems like it would

I'm going to try doing this qwiso thing. I have some weed I grew about 5 years ago, it still has a buzz to it, but nothing like it did when it was fresh.
Couldn't hurt since I'm getting ready to harvest some new stuff.

Well I tried it last night, and it worked, and, works well. The next time I do this, I will try to catch it before it is completely dried, and try to scrape it together. The stuff was very sticky, and hard to scrape. Plus a lot of work in the scraping.

ETA: I now know why many years ago, I came across some weed that looked good, but had no buzz.
