Is this a good idea?

I want to get a medium size fish tank (40 gallon), fill the bottom with about 5-6 inches of soil, then plant 3-4 seeds with a couple of inches spread apart. I want to put a Wire grate on the top of the tank for air flow with lights above the grate pointing down on the soil. With this design the tank should condensate with moisture, is this a good idea? Also after the plants are a good 5-6 inches tall, i thought of maybe putting a thin layer of gravel or small rocks on top of the soil. Would that help at all too?

No you need some kind of drain holes and 5-6 inches of soil is not enough and putting to many plant in one spot will tangle the roots and stunt the plants..
You need to put them in pots....

look around this site you will find another cheeper way thats better...
read all you can befor you start your own...

ONE PLANT PER POT!!!! And you need a pot. Water has to drain. Mary Jane is jut like any other plant. Start out by reading up on growing. There are lots of grow guides here in the forums and many more if you just do a surch on line. READ, READ, READ! before doing anything.
