Stealthbox Plan

I know this has been done before, but I am going to try it a little differently. I plan on using a regular old, beat-up dresser. About 4' tall and 3' wide. I'll post pictures as soon as I can.

Now, considering my living circumstances; this box needs to be completely stealth. No light, no smell, no noise, ect. For now I plan on a small crop (about 6 plants), and I plan to wire the box with about 100w compact fluorescents. Eventually I will install a cloning/seedling chamber and upgrade about 70w HPS.

Anyway- I'm a bit perplexed on the ventilation. I want to run the exhaust through a small carbon filter and then possibly out a nearby window. I can't really have a standard exhaust hose hanging out my window, what should I use? WOuld it be possible to simple install a small carbon filter and expell the air through the rooM? I'm not sure.



Any suggestions would be helpful. I'll post pictures ASAP.

Also, I'm planning on lining the box with that shiny emergency blanket stuff. I've never heard of anybody using it before, but in theory, it should be highly reflective. Has anybody ever heard of using this? Is it a good idea or not?

Hi,
In this situation I would go to home depot and get a dryer exhaust vent. They have louvers too. Come in different colors so you could get one that matches the outside of your house.
You would need to cut a hole in the wall, but once installed and sealed up nice nobody would even notice it.
Let me know if you know what I am talking about I can send you a picture. I am doing it in my shop, for a little different covert project

Interesting, I may try that. Though making a hole in a wall is a bit extreme considering it's not going to be a permanent spot. I want to be able to transport my box from time to time.
A large exhaust hose is going to be hard. I need something smaller. ANd smell is definately a big concern.

yea, I understand. I am dealing with the same thing, I am going to build a box in my attic. I need a way to vent, I am going to try to tap into the vent stack that goes out the roof, but it will require alot of pressure and a big fan.
You need to get the exhaust out of the house someway. If you cant open the window then you need to find another way. Maybe up the ceiling into the attic and out the louvers in the roof, can you do that? If not, cutting a hole in the wall might be the way. I think they make that exhaust hose in 3 inch diam.

Interesting.. I might just have to make a hole in the wall. Though, in theory I could just vent it through a nearby window. The room I'm using has 4 windows along the walls. Maybe if I just kept them open and let the exhaust find it's own way out?
