10 Cubic Foot Box Ventillation Issues!

So, I built roughly a 10-11 cubic foot veg box. I have a 65CFM exhaust as well as a 65 CFM intake, and temps are pushing 90 degrees! Ambient room temp is 77-80. How is this possible? Im only using 4 (32 watt) CFL's!

don't be fooled, cfls give off crazy heat. You will need to step up the fannage. You say 65cfm fans, but you fail to say what kind. Different fans for different jobs. If you had a cheap dayton blower on there it would work better than pc fans of the same rating due to static pressure. Different fans like the vortex for instance will move serious air through bends in ducting but not as well as a blower like a big dayton (of the same cfm rating) will, and a small duct fan from homedepot will not move air through a box hardly at all.
My guess is you have the latter and you have now found out that they do not work like you want them to. Step up to a single 4" dayton blower with no fan on the intake and you will be just fine for under $100

Not trying to be rude, but if they were moving air, you would not have heat issues. Those would be 120v PC fans, and those can not handle any static pressure. Those are designed to pull hot air off of a heatsink. You will need to upgrade if you want the heat issue resolved.

you only need one for your exhaust, use a passive intake.

So you are fairly certain this will help me drop temp at least 5 degrees?

ok open up 2 4" holes at the bottom of your plant level

Take both fans and use them as exhaust fans

yes it will drop it beyond 5 degrees. I do suggest a thermostat to go with it so it does not have to run constantly.

Re: 10 Cubic Foot Box Ventillation Issues!

Don, while your advice is probably the best way to go, I'm gonna go the route of just using 2 exhausts, like the other guy said. I don't have the money for one of those blowers at the moment, but as soon as I do, you can bet that those tiny fans are coming down, and the big guy is goin up! Thanks to everyone for their advice, I don't think we need this thread anymore!

Thanks again,
