Underground Stealth Grow

i am thinking of doing a really sick grow sometimee in the future, heres how it would work.

i would dig a gigantic hole prolly 20ft wide by 20ft long and 9ft deep, them i would put up a couple posts and cover it with plywood except i would leave an opening for an entrance. the plywood would be 1ft below the ground so then i put 1ft of dirt on top and some grass seed, then put a ladder and a fake rock over the entrance

obviously it would be more technical with the electricity and the venting but thats the basic idea

so whaddya think?

Well it sounds like something i would think of while really baked hahaha. Well I think that the idea would cool, but more trouble than its worth.

your going to need a lot of posts to support 1 ft of dirt with plywood, you might have to make trusses, like they do in a house, lots of support

Hopefully you already figured out you have a very low water table? If your going to attempt such a thing, first do the math and determine how much a cubic foot of dirt weighs, and how much dirt your going to have. Also you have to determine water absorbtion (ie how much that dirt will weigh wet), and determine how to keep the top drained so it wont become water logged, and too heavy. Keeping water from seeping down under the plywood could be an absolute bitch. Sounds risky unless your very good with beams, concrete, foundation supports, water proofing, drainage, ventilation and wiring...How about using a shipping container in that big hole, with just enough dirt to cover its top by a couple inches. No risk of falling in on you... Depending on where you are, and how easy you can get on in without unwanted people seeing it, that container would last years (oh, put a dry sump pump under it or maybe two to keep things dry during the winter...Waterproofing the container before it gets buried, maybe even a thin coat of rubber roof everywhere on the outside, vent pipe for intake and exhaust....

Sounds like more trouble than it's worth. You need tons of shoring for a hole like that. You don't wanna die in a cave in. Just grow in your basement dude.

thanks for the replys guys but your all right i was high as fuck when I made this last night but im seriously thinking about it but the shipping container is prolly the safest way to go.

LAWLZ!! Sticking a shipping container in the ground wont be stealth at all. And the dude a few posts up made some very good points with how you would engineer something like this. The steel from a shipping container will definately rot from moisture. Perhaps an epoxy coat over it or something. Sounds like a ton of work however :P better u than me

there was a grow in BC a few years ago that used buried train cars, generators, and like 150 lights.... there were 20 train cars buried 2 wide and 10 deep.. the thing was wicked nasty, and would could have been going again w/ very little cash to replace what wires the police did cut (idiots only cut the wires in 1 place.... simple splice and wham you're back growing) they left EVERYTHING except the plants.....

you can get over sea's shipping container for a grand and it will hold up the dirt i have been thinking about this for a while just dont have the land yet

i would rent a small backhoe so id say two work days possibly three

No offense man, but you might want to contract the help of someone who knows architectural design before you kill yourself in a cave in.
A hole that big is a dangerous thing. I'm not an architect or an engineer but I know for a fact that plywood wouldn't cut it.

yeah if your going to be doing this you need to pretty much do everything by yourself. And try and keep your project as discreet as possible. good luck
