Underground Stealth Grow

I've thought about this some because i would rather not grow in my house just in case it ever does get searched so to my thinking a hidden bunker would be perfect.

What I thought would be perfect to make the structure out of is old tires, they build houses out of them called earthships and they seem to work fine, they fill them with sand and lay them with bricks but why not make it even more sturdy and fill them with cement. And also I've heard that here (Canada) the government will pay you 5 dollars per tire to take from some junkyard if you can find a use for it. But then I suppose they would want to know what I'm building, but man if they didn't the irony would be thick.

Weight of soil is too great for any of these feasible ideas to work;

dry average weight of a cubic foot of soil = 75lbs

20ft * 20ft * 1ft * 75(lb/ft^3) = 30,000lbs

Thats dry, too. Thats a lot of damn dirt lol

A shipping container would also over time release metal into the air and you will have to deal with rust building up in minute quantities would almost be like growing in an abandoned copper mine like some retarded health board thougth would be a good place to grow medicinal cannabis to distribute to its citizens. MMMMM wouldnt a big bud grown in a an old zinc and copper mine littered with tons of other trace heavy metals in the most poluted area a country has to offer sound tasty and a good way to help those with terminal illness? I think I would rather huff on the end of a 357magnum myself prolly be less dangerous.

Doing it like this is actually feasible -- takes care of privacy, the whole weight issue, fresh air, etc. I still think its much more work than what its worth, it'd probably be cheaper and easier to just rent a shitty house!

no doubt that renting would be easier, but whats the trade off? In and UNDERGROUND container... their are no risks as long as you dont tell a soul, run it off a natural gas or diesel generator... yeahhhh im soooo gonna do this one day

Why not dig your hole, put in your shipping container thing, then build a building over top of the covered hole.

Boom, you have a shed with a ladder going down to your grow room. Of course you can hide the hole and the ladder going down, but you could totally do it. It just costs lots of money and takes lots of work.

Only thing that makes me wonder about this idea is that the train story made sense it was a large scale comercial operation and costs of diesel fuel for gernators can be offset by growing large quantities but inside a shipping crate you could get what 6-8 6x8 tables but at night when lights are out and 2o feet underground the temperature would probably be around 50-55 degrees so you would have to heat it at night when lights are out So basically unless your going to run enough tables that you can sell the bud for the going street price and grow enough that the overal cost of heating electricity etc when worked into production cost of a one container operation i think the costs would make it unpractible you would be much better off finding an old farm with one of thes 2 level basements and place your grows in the bottom the insulation of the buildings remaining levels should cut down heat signature and you could divert heat from the duct system to where you need it much more easily just make sure you rent so the govt cant take your home. I have seen lots of these old farm houses as well with 2 above ground floors a basement then a sub basement that has a 6 foot ceiling and is 40 x 60 all under 30 feet of insulated house no infra red just use carbon filters and use the exhaust to help heat the building as well.

Also architects don't know shit about engineering, they just draw pictures, it's the engineers that make buildings stand up. They take the pretty drawing and fill in all the details.

I take offense to that. Any self respecting architect would be more than capable of building this structure. An engineer could probably design it more efficiently and for less money, but an architect could at the very least make it safe.

This idea is not to bad actually, i read the news where this older guy had this badass grow place, it was under a motorcycle shed, he had like 100 plants growing with a perfect looking system, the only problem he came across was neighbors wondering wtf was going on when he would enter the shed and not come out for hours with the doors close. They called the cops, the cops watched him, got a search warrant and busted him, made good news and im guessing gave many people a building project. lol follow your dreams cause it has and can be done, but i would do alittle more construction detail searching, istead of plywood and beams.

well right idea wrong scale i just dug my hole 4x6 3.5 feet deep covered it with a pallet some tarp and about a foot of soil i am discovering that cooling will not be a problem although co2 will thats not to hard to solve if this works i plan on makeing several of these root celler type grows have a grow journal with some pics btw it took me 4hrs to dig and cover it by hand in hard clay

I attempted to start a grow underground earlier this year. I dug hole 3' deep that was 2'x3' (which was a real bitch to do) and lined it with plywood. What really fucked me over was rain. It kept washing out the dirt around the wood and my hole collapsed on itself so I said "fuck it" and gave up. Underground growing can be done for sure but waterproofing for me was the hardest part, and if you're gonna try you should give that a lot of planning.
