Underground Stealth Grow

I meant talk to someone about what kind of support is needed to create a subterranian building. You don't want to do this project with someone, but you also don't want to just do something like this without knowing what you're doing. That's how people end up dying.

leave that to the professioinals.

Also architects don't know shit about engineering, they just draw pictures, it's the engineers that make buildings stand up. They take the pretty drawing and fill in all the details.

People have done this. The train cars in The Union is very impressive. A shipping container could very well work. I don't know the specs on the them so I can't say for sure. the train cars woked though and I know they are built very similarly to the shipping containers.
It would need to be in well draining soil, preferably sand or gravel. But you could waterproof it with asphaltic or any number of waterproofing systems designed for home basements and backfill with granular material (gravel) to a drain tile system and sump.
Needless to say (or maybe not) this endeavor would require extensive construction experience and some rather large equipment to build.
There was an underground grow built with steel beams and concrete on Overgrow years ago, but the thread died. (well before the site was shut down) I suspect they had some structural failures because the pictures showed undersized structural components (based on my naplin calcs on the load and spans). But they definitely tried this. I think you could easily pull in $100k plus a year from a single shipping container sized grow.
I'd love to see someone try this again.

There are several examples of people doing things underground with a great deal of safety. Oversea's shipping containers, train cars and school buses are great shells to start. Using concrete and rebar to create reinforced wall supports, and roof. I think one of the best places to start if your considering something like this is to piggy back off someone else's design to minimize your cost and increase your safety. they buildt one hell of a survival shelter out of school buses, and if they just let me use a few of them to grow until the bombs drop.....

Ummm .... I'm going to guess a crapload of lights underground, and with little covering at that, is going to be a giant glowing sign to FLIR (infrared cameras on police helicopters) saying come bust me.

I'm guessing(and hoping) the OP must live a distance from the neighbors. Because nothing says "Stealth Fail" like a 100' high crane dropping a very large shipping container into a hole.

Well lets bring this thread back to life why dont we! the whole underground thing isnt that far of a idea.Its one of the things ive been thinking bout with a buddy. And we have came to one idea that might work very well. but at the same time cost you a bit in money. the idea revolves around addin on to your house. And then addin on to the basement Under the new part. Then building a secret door to that room. But the hard thing to do with the power for that room so as no one will think to look. the answer! Take your house off the grid! yea take your house green with solar power. That way no one will wonder why your energy is up at certain hours of the day. lol. just a idea for now.

well its a good idea except it defeats the point...thats basically growing in your basement...+ to take urself off the grid for 10,000W of power would take nearly an acre of solar panels

Well theres a new solar panel out it replaces your roofing. But yea its really is like your basement. The whole underground thing that isnt attached to your house isnt that good. I mean in the middle of winter are you going to dig out a rock and go in it?
