need som pro input on a new stealth grow box

Some Background information

I have been lurking on here for a while. I know I want to control what I smoke and I want to know what I am getting and that it will be predictable. I have learned a lot about things that were previously just secret info I would gather from others before

I have been medicating for a bit. Gave it up and then recently go back into it as a way to reach new places

I vape, because the cough and smoke is just not something I like, and of course I like the idea of using the most effective way. And also cause there is no tell tale smoke as I live in an apartment. Took me a bit (after being disappointed and reading up) to figure out that the high is a different one. It gives you a pure sativa style high which is what I want. I don’t like stoned (well I do but I have certain times for it) as I want to get shit done. Think of it as a smoke to motivate. I want that thinking high as I get some of the best ideas that are innovative and different on it. In the creative field, call it a muse or what ever but that is what I want. Anyhow this is rambling

So I am a creative type (aren’t we all too some degree) I do music, art, write, photography and design. I have a desire to grow my own so I know what I am getting and don’t worries about making a new connect for it. I would like what I have read and referred to as a “weed cellar” or maybe a term I thought might be better a Dank bar

So I have a plan in my head to build a stealth grow box. I really thought about buy a prebuilt one but they are really high and I really don’t want to lay that kind of money out if I am not going to sell it. I don’t plan to sell any but my gift some to friends. I want good stuff and be a sort of connoisseur (why not get the better things if you are going to risk it)

The plan developed out of thinking a really cool grow box would be a upright piano. At one time I thought about getting an upright piano and taking the guts out and make a place for my music. See I have a keyboard and I want it to be placed in the area where the normal area is. Then place a monitor and speakers and computer in the case part. So I had a good idea to combine the two. but instead of getting piano just make a case that resembles a piano (spinet or upright) that way it would be not questioned much as it would just look like a cool keyboard workstation(I have always wanted this for my keyboard for the longest time)

So what I am hoping is that people can help design this idea into reality. Kind of a collective design process.



All that said. I have ideas on it and a bullet list of things. I have pieced it all together from the forums



• I like the hydro method. No dirt is good.

• I like the SCRoG method. More yield in a smaller space.
o On this I think I would want the SCRoG screen to be independent with the pot/container so if you have to pull it out to check roots you can without disturbing the screen

o I thought getting the small tubs they use in pc grow boxes. Put a drainage spout on it hooked to tubes and have it drawn out by a fish tank pump. This one is in theory and I don’t know if it is possible


 But if they are modular SCRoG screens then I could pull it out and drain it in a bucket

• I think it would be nice to get some of the equipment now and set up something like one plant while I am building it. That way I hopefully have some new “tenet” for their new “dollhouse”

• I have seen pre-made 5 gallon buckets but I am sure I could make my own and smaller as space (even with the SCRoG method) would be at a premium
• I would like to have to bottom part as the grow chamber and the top as flowering and cloning on top as well as storage.

• I would want access from the front as I don’t want to have to constantly move it out to do daily things. Tell tale carpet tracks and pain in the butt. However I think I could rearrange things to have access from the rear or sides too. I would just have to get a separate CPU so it could be independent for main one. That is NP as I can just build a smaller independent one as I have wanted to do all along

• Don’t want too much of an increase in the bill. Saw the LED lights method but thought the CFL would do just as well. Both would be low power relatively

• I am thinking it would be good to have a higher yield and then stop until I run low. Or have a constant low yield of several different varieties year around thus keeping the Dank bar well stocked

• A good amount of computer fans with carbon filters on the outside which will be black and should blend in with the black finish of the “piano”

• It doesn't have to be super security as I live by myself but I don’t want the neighbors to hear or smell things and if they management come in want them to say much more then that is a nice piano or piano stand

• Some suggestions on what to grow relevant to what I want. Sativa. Maybe some good flavors as vaping is suppose to bring it out. Right now that schwag I have now taste like shit but it does the job. I want a sativa head high that creative buzz. I would also like to get indicia for certain times I want stoned feel. I have heard if you smoke the vaped weed later you can get that so maybe I wont need indicia

• I have some seeds of this schwag which I could probably use for experimentation. But I would want to buy feminized seeds from UK. But I wonder how long I can keep the seeds before I start them. Hopefully I will be able to start building this in a few weeks.

After reading a lot, I know that there are varied ideas and methods. I think I would be just as inclined to build all of it (screens, pots, etc) at least as much as I can assemble. Half the fun is assembling it.

I have design ideas in my head and some rudimentary blueprints. However they are not set in stone. I am good at doing this stuff but I am always open to new ideas as long as they still keep the look on the outside as I envision. The inside would be the function part of the enclosure and I am not really keen on what will be needed so I leave that up to others who have more experience.

And finally I know this is pretty ambitious for the first time grow. But I am like that and I know I can get the outside done if I can get some technical help on the inside with it


I have the designs I am working out and maybe a mockup of the outside product if anyone think it will help I will post it soon. I don’t have measurements yet as I cant seem to find the five tape measures I have somewhere, but I think they are not needed right now. Just need to figure out the dimensions needed inside for the pots and heights on a SCRoG
