Stealth Cabinet Design

Dear All,

I hope you can help me out. I want to build my own Stealth cabinet, not to grow huge amounts but enough for my own personal habit as our supply here in the UK is pathetic.

I want to use something like a metal stationary cupboard or filing cabinet that I can buy from a furniture store, as this comes ready made with a lock and prying eyes wont be looking around it too much. It needs to be stealth so that every couple of weeks or so when my in-laws come over they don't suspect anything.

I would also want to buy a ready made metal cabinet because I think it would look batter than wood in my spare room, but is it hard to ventilate them? Will they heat up too much?

My likely dimensions will be (inches):

Height: 28"
Width: 40"
Depth: 25"

These are all estimates. From what I've read on here, (and I'm not an expert), I think I would like two main sections, one for mothering, the other for flowering?

If so, how many exhaust fans would I need? Would one be sufficient for the whole cabinet? I ask this as one of the
designs I have seen completely separates these two compartments, I guess so no light is leaked when they are on different light cycles?

I plan to grow in soil as I have heard this is slightly more forgiving for a first time grower. Will the following spec be sufficient...

Section 1 (Mothering, Smaller, Planned 2 plants at a time)
One x 150W 6400K CFL LAMP BULB - LIGHT BLUE
One computer fan to circulate air around this compartment only, I don't yet know how this would be connected up.

Section 2 (Flowering, Larger, Planned 2 plants at a time)
One x 150W 2700K CFL LAMP BULB - LIGHT RED
Again a computer fan (BB Type) to be hooked up to circulate air. I have also purchased a couple of white LED strips which I could perhaps use down the sides to offer some small additional
lighting.

Then a 4" inline fan mated to an odorsok carbon air filter to be used as the exhaust. From what I understand I also need vents to let air in and these don't need filtering as the exhaust pressure will automatically stop air leaking?

Guys I know this is far from perfect and that you're all very busy and probably enjoying a nice smoke ;-), but any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Well ive seen people grow in there pc case. The size of the box dosent really matter that much. Lights, time cycles, and steady care is whut does. For lights go with tha daylight cfls for veg and soft white for flowering. You dont need a veg room and a flower room juss one room unless ur growin like 4-5 plants ya dig. File cabients are good juss have to gut them. And as long as u can drill holes in tha back for venting it should work good. Let me kno if u need help peace.

Do you think I should go for several CFL's and not just 1 x 150 Watt bulb?

I think I've nearly got my head round everything, still a little confusing, I have been reading as much as I can from here for weeks now.

Also, what would your preference be over a metal or wood cabinet?

Hi there I would go with one of these cfl lamps you can get ur girls right up to these babys.

how many plants are plannin on growin? if its 1or 2 then 150 is fine but if u r growin more than that then get as much as posible. 100 wats per plant plus at least 50 more for any addtional plants you put in. as for metal or wood its all about whut you want it to look like if you want small and stealthy u probably gonna want wood. if not then get a big ass metal closet cabinet thingy. for 20 bucks at walmart i got a med size cab and it was all white already so i didnt have to hassle with mylar. also u wanna take in account how easy it would be for you to work on metal v.s. wood cuz the gb is probably gonna change from time to time, u need to drill holes and do the whole ventalation thing. show pics when ur done im interested to see whut u come up wit. peace mayn
