this air filter looks like trash. there is a reason why they say it needs monthly inspections, you will literally need to change the carbon every month, that is if the filter is adequate. It just doesn't look like there is enough internal surface area of the air flow and the carbon for it to do a decent job for very long.

| Re: unconventional carbon filter?
Hello everyone, this is my first post after much reading and learning. I am a med patient on the west coast. I had to reply to this, as I just purchased two of the 8 inch Organic Air carbon air filters, and two of the hepa intake filters for each of my two new rooms. I will let everyone know how it works out. I also have a Ecoplus Carbonaire 8" rated at 850 cfm canister type filter in case the OA's do not cut the mustard. The Ecoplus Caronaire beeotch is heavy at 78 lbs, so ass gets busted puttin it in the attic. After damn near killing myself and wife installing the Carbonaire, I decided to try something lighter weight. The OA's were not cheap, thats for sure. The 8 inchers run 189.95 (list price in sunlight supply 09 catalog) which is what I paid for at the hydro store. The 4 inch greenhouse hepa filters from the same company are 89.99. The owner of the hydro store said he cannot keep them in stock. I can verify this, as I had to order and wait myself. He said they rock, but you have to keep them clean. I will let you all know if they rock or not. My snout is super sensitive, and if any dank stank wafts out of the rooms, I will know about it. Each filter set will be responsible for a 12 x 9 room with 12 foot vaulted ceilings. One room is for flowering and one for veg. The cfm rating for the 8 inch is 2000 cfm, and they are way lighter at 5 lbs. They will each be attached to an Ecoplus 8 inch supreme inline fan rated 780 cfm a piece. The 4" HEPA filters will be attached to 4" High output Can-Fans, rated at 178 cfm. I really should have the intake fans rated higher according to the site Organic Air Filter & Purifiers but these will have to do for now. I do have to say there site has some interesting info on how there product works. It would seem these filters may be a bit different then some of the "cheaper" ones out there. Regardless, I am willing to spend the change to check the tech out. If these filters do work out, they will be a huge bang for the buck. The site says that these filters can be used for years if maintained properly. They have a higher cfm rating and surface to air ratio than anything else I have researched. Being lightweight and way smaller helps to reduce space compromised areas, will be safer to have mounted overhead and is easier to install. I can already tell I am going to have to post my new plant habitat. I cannot show it to my friends, but maybe you folks will enjoy it, whilst I keep my anonymity. Peace friends |

For everyone looking to buy this. Don't buy that pos for 50 bucks. Buy a regular car air intake filter. 8 bucks. PartsTrain.com - Hard to Find Auto Parts and Truck Parts - Kool Vue Cold Air Intake Filter For 2004 Chevrolet S10 ZR5 6 Cyl 4.3L Buy some activated carbon 8 bucks. And put the carbon in there. Put some pantyhose over the opening then hook up an appropriate sized elbow or tubing to it. Spend like 20 dollars or less.

I do like alot of the DIY ideas for filters, but I just don't have the time or inclination to build one, and the canisters are to heavy for me to mess with above my head in the air exchange tower between the rooms. | |
