Carbon filter - exhaust vent - cooltube

Hi all,

this is my first post on grasscity, great stuff here. I've been a member of OG before it was shut down.

I recently bought a new carbon filter and I am having some doubts while connecting. The guy at the store told me, I should hook up like this:

carbon filter > exhaust > cool tube

So basically air is pushed out of the cool tube and out of the growing space, not sucked out of growing space through the cool tube. I know exhaust vent can shut down after reaching high temps, but still, I think it would do better sucking than pushing.

cool tube > carbon filter > exhaust

or

cool tube > exhaust > carbon filter

All components are inside grow area.

I know I should try combination out for myself, but I'm a bit lazy. So if any of you might have some good value information, please post them here.

the filter should go where the air is leaving the box. if i see your design right its like its pulling the air through the filter first, then going into the box. this does nothing but filter the outside air. the filter is there to remove smells from the air leaving the box and entering the surrounding room.

HERES TWO DESIGNS, BUT IN EACH INSTANCE THE AIR INSIDE THE BOX IS FILTERED, THEN DISCHARGED FROM THE BOX.

blitzedonesic thanks. What's the temp inside and what light are you using? How far apart are the filter and reflector?

krokislegend thanks, yes, filter is first in my case too. Why use it if it's not doing it job? The thing with this new carbon filters is they have only one opening, so you cannot put it on the ending of the chain. It has to come first.

With current situation I can still hold the cool tube in my hand without any burns or hot spots.
