sneak peak at a new cabinet and my first modification.
bought a new cabinet (which is drying right now after being painted) and i decided i wanted a way i could easily get to the plants that'll be in the back of the cabinet without having to stick my head inside. that's when i decided to take a shelf, cut it down a bit, and add some drawer slides on the bottom. foil taped the top and now this thing look half classical/half space age. i'll finish putting it together and take a picture of the whole thing once the paint dries.
![]() bottom side view: ![]() top side view: ![]() now i'll be able to easily slide the "floor" of the cabinet in and out to maintain the plants whenever i need to. |

the exhaust is gonna be pretty badass, but i'll save that for later. i'll be running a 150w hps. it's in the mail right now. from this: ![]() to this: ![]() (this picture is only showing it with 1 coat of primer. i was too high when i bought the primer and grabbed masonry primer instead. oh well. should work better) i just put the weather stripping on and now i'm just waiting for spots of paint to finish drying, then i'm putting in the floor. look for new pictures in about 30 minutes. and by the way, the backing on that cabinet is not the paper thing that comes with it. i cut a different piece of wood to fit on the back and screwed it into the frame, then ran a bead of liquid nails along every point of contact from inside the cabinet to help seal the thing.

thats whats up.
i've been planning a "mills pride" like setup for about 2 years. considering i live in a heavily populated area. still kinda iffy on the whole FLIR vans and all. my set up is gonna go something like this, cab measurements are about 30x20x72 (approx, since its stored at the moment) 400w electrical ballast hps/mh (still need tofigure out the converters and cables) Cool tube with inline (small) 200cfm fam. (thinking about putting light dimmer on it) 8" carbon filter with 220cfm fan on it thats pretty much what i have at hand. have to pick up some tubing to connect everything. and gotta get some sketches down and post them see what people think. what you got goin, looks good. 2cab growers are better than one. i'm surprised a cab thread hasn't been posted. if it has linkage? lol nez [edit] i found a cab thread i posted literally about a 2 years ago lol. http://forum.grasscity.com/general-i...t-growers.html lets get it popin!! Looks very nice. Have you tested the slides with any amount of weight on them?

the only thing i had was a small toolbox and it rolled with that. the rollers were advertised as being able to support up to 75 lbs.

Thats good. Was worried about that.

ok, question time. here's what i have planned for the exhaust. the top fan will exhaust the box while the fan on the side primarily exhausts all the heat coming from the light with a large passive intake towards the bottom.
![]() will it actually work though? |
|
|
or would it be better to add in some painted pvc elbows for the intake instead of the vent?
|
|
|
Again nice. Are you using a cabon scrubber? It doesnt look like it in the pic.. So I would just move the light to the top and get rid of the exhaust from the top... Get a bigger exhaust fan for the light and pull the air from the cabinet-light- exhaust out of box.
