Fan thingy
So I made the fan, thanks to DON P for giving me the courage to think outside the box.
U were right DON P, there HAVE to be wires in it, just detatch the prong, which is internally connected to wires, right?? Im learning slowly lol. Well what do u know it works, popping out the prong thing is easy ![]() the wires u have to work with are REALY short, but its money ![]() cut and strip, and attatch to a cable. I dont have pics of everthing I did, srry -- when I start building and encountering problems and working around them and all that shit I just get in the zone and forget to snap pics lol, but I just attatched the fan to a 4" drain grate and popped the drain grate into a 4" 90 degree elbow. The fan has no ground wire so I just used a 2 prong connection wire. IS THIS BAD DON P?? ![]() Sorry I dont have better pics, I can snap more if u guys want. It was a pretty standard connection. The thing moves ALOT of air!!! Theres a guy on ebay right now selling these things HELLA cheap!! I would recommend these to anyone. So funny thing is, after all that I left the area and there was a package outside my door lol. And I bet u can guess what it was lol, the exhaust fan. Its pretty dope, a brand new hydrofarm blower and it will be good to attatch to a filter and all that so I think Ill use it for my exhaust like I was planning, and maybe use this new one to cool the canaopy?? Let me know players. btw I realize I would need a black pvc elbow to make the thing lightproof, I just had the whilte one lying around and popped it in to see how it fit. it fits perfectly in these and if I were to use this fan for exhaust I WOULD go and get a nice black 4" pvc elbow. |

k . . . . . lotsa pics
Well today I did alot of work, and so I took alot of pics lol. But the cabs ALMOST done now, and its doin well. The clabs been closed for over 30 minutes now and temps are 85 about 5 inches under the bulb so needless to say I wet my pants a little.
And its MID DAY!!! I do my "12 on" during night time so I think Im good on temps!! Ok, so i took the fan that came in the mail, the Hydrofarm, and put IT on top of the cab like the vortex in a tub. Theres room for a 3rd tub up there, and Ill get one. So though if u know what ur looking for its a LITTLE conspicuous lol, when its in a garage instead of an apartment itll be fine. And no one comes in here so its all good. If I put the fan inside the cab itd be the same story, id be wasting room so . . . here it is as it stands ![]() Theres a 4 inch circular hole for passive intake which will be covered by the 8x8 darkroom vent when I get it. And theres xtra 4" ducting hanging from the top hole that will attatch to a 4" carbon filter that will be bolted to the ceiling of the cab in the space in front of the light. Let me know what u guys think. ![]() ![]() The vent will come up and be attatched to a filter here Im thinking. And the fan is in the bin blowing out, sorry no pics of the fan my bad ![]() The hole on the side of the bin will be covered by the middle bin. Ill figure something out and Im not really that worried. Actually the cab exhaust hasnt even kicked on yet, its wired to come on at 88 I think. I hung the thermocontroller's sensor on the light just for now, and I hung the dayton axial to blow across the bottom of the light. this works VERY well and I hope I can keep it this way. IMO this helps temps TREMENDOUSLY. I will wire in a power strip thru a strain relief soon enough and plug all "inner-cab" electrical components to the strip. Maybe tonight but probably not I got a long night ahead of me. ![]() Also gotta wire this thru a seperate strain relief and figure out the best way to disperse c02 in the cab ![]() My boy just set me up with 2 tanks, gotta pick them up Ok, now for the Co2 monitor, I took it apart and took some pics of where the monitor is supposed to plug in. I dont know much about this shit so hope these pics help ![]() ![]() ![]() u can see the input there, and heres a more closeup pic of the input ![]() K lotsa pics but lots goin on and pics speak a thousand words!!! |

Its been 86.5 steady (reading is from the sensor at the end of the stake in the plant pic on last post if that makes sense lol) for the past 20 minutes (since before I started the last post), about 5 inches under the bulb. Im not in the room right now but I dont think the cab exhaust fan is even running. Cuz I was in there for a while and the exhaust didnt even kick on. And the other sensor that I hung on the light was steady at 80 the whole time I was in there.
I have 2 sensors, 1 that sends a signal out of the room to where I chill at, and one for the thermocontroller. And they give diff readings. srry if thats confusing my minds shot right now lol, seems like a confusing post. If I can explain better let me know, I want to get this right. {EDIT} I said 85 cuz it was 85 on that stake sensor the last time I checked before I left the room, but then it creped to 86 lol, big diff I know lol Last edited by gonejah17 : 04-24-2008 at 12:21 AM. |

Hey Gonj. i am out for a bit. Appendectomy. Great that the fan works. You fan has no third wire and thats ok. Alot of things dont require a green wire. Its grounded to the white wire in your electrical system. I am kinda out of it right now so forgive me all. Glad to see you had the nutz to tear that co2 unit apart. I did not get to read everything, gotta get back in bed here. Your doing great!
PS. The light trap can be painted flat black inside and the white vent will be just fine. I always used white and painted the inside black.

I don't know if im coming od going (hydromorphone) I just ashed in my pop. Any way. You got an old set of headphones? Looks like thats what that plug accepts. Use the plug from the old head phones and cut the wire. Power up your unit and with that plug plugged in, measure the voltage on those wires and see what you get. You got a multimeter right?

thats defiantly not what I meant to say, or even come off that way. I don't think any "side by side" would show a significant change. HELL I don't trust ANY side by side thats done only once, for accurate results a min of 3 trys with an averaged out number is better there's just too many variables in this game. BTW, you know that cool tube reflector is replaceable right? OK I'm done! |

Gonna need a voltmeter. They are cheap. Get one, they come in handy. Gonna need to measure the voltage and amperage coming from the wires. Have you been able to get it calibrated yet so it reads? If it reads, you'll need to "engineer" a way to spray co2 on the sensor to get it to read different numbers, and you'll need to measure the voltage and amps coming from the wires (old headphones) and record your PPM reading along side of the volt/amp number. Then we can determine your deadspot (which you will set) in either the voltage or amps, and hook up a relay to that wire set to turn on below 1500ppm and off above 1500ppm. It can work, I am pretty positive. Stay up man.
