Ok now that I have answered questions everywhere else, time to update my thread. I would take a pic but its pointless taking pics of the same white walls. I got the 4th coat down today (it is a coat of killz primer, I had some bleed from the floor boards showing through) 5th coat tonight, also kilz primer, and then coat 6 tomorrow night of elastomeric coating. This is going to have such a high build, it will be impenetrable. The kilz has a built in fungicide as an added bonus. Won't hurt to use, it's latex like the elastomeric coating.

Can you say FAN. This is to vent my attic's heat that is given off by the AC and the light. I put some timers next to it to give you a size comparison. 1540cfm

Off to do the last coat of primer/sealer. had to wait until today, it was pretty chilly yesterday and took a while for the paint to dry. Have to wait till tomorrow to paint last coating of elastomeric goop.

Probably going to install the exhaust fan for the attic today as well. pics to come.

i would have picked up a dehumidifier to sit right in the middle of that room for the painting. i normally put a couple coats of killz on as well, although its tough stuff, and requires only one. i cant wait to see this though. you have no clue..

Oh I have the dehumidifier, but the longer the paint takes to dry, the better the cure IMO. Its getting there. Soon, soon.

Thats awesome, so how thick are the 6 layers? Like comparable to the thickness of a quarter? a few mm?

Also on those Air conditioners. I too may use a small one. When the hot air comes off the back..that is not hot air from the intaken from the front is it? In other words, if you hang that air conditioner with the back outside of the box, you have a completely closed system...correct. No smell would be getting out?

TY

Got my Attic fan installed. Just need to wire up the thermostat and test it out. Tomorrow morning you will get the scoop on that. I placed two 2x4s between the studs where I needed them, Took my sheet of wood with the big hole in it, and hammered it to the 2x4s, pulled it all out as one piece and put the fan in it, secured the 2x4's further, to the face plate with some screws, and attached the fan via bracketry that came with the fan. I put a thick bead of caulk at all seams that would not be accessable when installed, and a thick bead where the faceplate and 2x4s made contact to the wall and studs. I also sealed the outer joints with Great stuff expanding foam. here is a pic (shitty one) below. I will be replacing the vent on the outside of the house to accomodate the huge fan if needed. I only need to keep 80-90degF in my attic, so we'll see.

FMJ, Glad to have you stop by. The 6 layers are going to be about a quarter thickness or more. I am also going to insulate the outside of the box with R-11 Fiberglass insulation, and covering that with IR sheilding.

The hot air off the back of the AC is not from the room, so it is a closed system, no smell. Just have to tilt the AC 1/3 of a bubble on the level towards the outside of the box, and catch the water in somthing. I am going to make a drain in the bottom of mine to go to a 5gal pail i think.

Well Bio, It is a beast of a fan. I wired it in today and man it moves air. Too bad it don't exhaust it all right now though. It pushes alot of air back inside (as i thought it would). I am going to put a different vent (20" Gable vent shutter) on the outside of the house. I am also going to move the existing vent to the other end of the attic where there is no vent. It will do a wonderful job when the work outside is complete.

I also got the wiring for the AC relay done (except the dc trigger from the temp controller that is not installed yet), pretty happy now that the electrical work is done. One more coat of elastomeric roofing compound to go, after I cut the holes for the AC unit, intake, and exhaust fan for the light cooling. I know I've been saying it alot, but its about to come together real soon!

Alright, going to measure and cut for AC unit now. Maybe fan too, pressed 4 time rite now. But gotta geterdun. I am on my 4th leaf set on my lone plant, so if it turns out, I will technically be way behind schedule but with a head start. That will probably make more sense to people that have been following since the beginning.

Photo Update:

Here are the latest.
1 is the light trap for the light cooling intake, painted inside flat black.
2 is the AC hole
3 is the IR blocker
4 is a close up of the attic fan. You can see the vent behind it that I am going to replace.
5 shows the fit of the exhaust fan for the light cooling. (not its final position, It will be more to the exterior)
6 shows the fit of the intake light trap. (Again, not it's final position, that will be outside the cab with vinyl hose going down the side of the cab to a foot off the floor to draw the coolest air possible)

So, now it really is coming along!

Just put the intake and fan outside the box to where they will get thier final placement. Looks sharp. Also test fit the cool tube, and it fits this cab very well. I mean, did you really have any doubts?

Going to rinse off all this sawdust and smoke something before I start to look like my avitar! Peace out

One more added note. I ran the Huge Attic fan and the light fan and the AC today in the attic. Note that I have not insulated the AC. I went to the main floor of the house and it is silent! Was my only real concern after deciding to go sealed with AC. Noise.
None here. Someone did a nice job insulating the attic from the living space.
