Finally back up and running, here's some pics, notice how #2 has done nothing, still no sign of roots today?? Plant #1 does have some rust type marks on the leaves, I think the nutes are a bit too strong, I started at around 720ppm at .7 conversion, and by the time #1 roots hit the water I had it down to about 640ppm where it sits now. What do you guys think I should do with plant #2??

yay for pics. #2 is much smaller!! i think it Should be able to recover though. just give it a week or so. 1 looks pretty good so far, except the nute burn. i dislike TDS meters so much, thats what the .7 is for, correct?

Yeah, in 10 days #2 has basically done nothing, but I'm pretty sure its slowing growing again. I will wait and see what happens, its almost to late now to start another seed anyways, the time it started growing #1 would be quite big.

These TDS meters can also screw a person up, I don't understand why they do things like this. I don't really understand your question, I thought they were all TDS meters to check nutes. Mine does say TDS on it, not sure what it means, don't really care but its actually a .5 conversion. This is were I was messed up at first as are many others do I'm sure. I read on the lucas formula to have the TDS at a certain level, as in 1300ppm was full strength. Well with my .5 conversion meter 1300ppm is 1820ppm at .7 conversion, the one lucas uses. So when I first did hydro I wanted 700ppm, I set the water to 700ppm according to my meter, plant got burnt then I found out I was actually at 980ppm. So now I always mention the conversion in case someone knows the difference, I always wonder now when I read what others set there's at what kind of meter there using. I think I've read about a 3rd type of conversion maybe thats the one you're referring too that isn't very good. So yeah even though my meter is .5 I talk in .7 because thats what the Lucas formula refers to. Hope all that makes sense.

Well I thought it was about time to give an update on my babies. I guess things are going ok, plant #1 still shows decent signs of nute burn and plant #2 has started to grow finally and looking normal. These ones don't seem to like the nutes as much as my last plants. I'm still running the 400w MH bulb but I feel its a complete waste at this point still. The plants aren't growing any faster now then they were with a 200w CFL. Next grow I'm definitely using CFL's for vegging just for power sake and heat, its stays around 81 degrees in there, I'm guessing it'll be lower once the HPS bulb goes in. The water stays at 73 degrees when the container is covered with mylar, staying black it got up to 85 degrees. Here's some pics from tonight.

???? Have You checked Your PPM???? It look's like You may have it to high.

Look's like You have some nut burn's developing, Might want to think about a flush if Your PPM is way high before it get's worste.

yeah, the .5 and .7 are for the conversions to find out your PPM. but with an EC, its all standardized. no weird conversion to figure out your PPM. i like them much better; easier to deal with.. anyways, looks like Kali2 hit the water, congratulations. im sure she is taking off new growth as i type this.

Questions --
are they feminized seeds?
and when do you think youll switch to 12/12?
are you going to be making hash oil/BHO/qwISO with the trimmings?
do you plan on having any seeds? like do you have pollen collected frmo other grows and plan on crossing them?


ps - youll have to send me some of that Kali Mist when its done. i need to inspect it. serious though.

Hey hatch, thanks, I do check my PPM's but I seem to get a bit carried away at first and set it to high for some reason. I started with 700ppm at .7 conversion which fried #1, I've taken lots of completely crisp leaves off it. I dropped my PPM down to 350 now but it would probably be better at 300, that's what I'm going to start my clones off at next grow, if I have any that is... This grow will be trial and error again, hopefully things go ok.

Hey extracurricular, I'll probably check out the EC meter when this one craps out, guess it doesn't really matter as long as you have some kind of number. The day #2 hit the water she took off and is growing like she should be. Now I don't know what to do for flowering, when to switch because there so different in size. #2 won't be ready for another month but #1 would be too big by then. One simple mistake, no clamp on vent, it comes off temp goes up to 98f or so for no longer then 2 hours and all this happens, shitty... What I'll probably end up doing is switch to flowering in 10 days or so and modify my scrog screen so its 2 levels and do it that way. #2 won't be so close to the light but I'm sure it will be ok, I plan on having #1 about 3" from the light all the way through flowering.

I'm using normal seeds, not feminized, I don't like that idea, I feel normal seeds are better seeds. I plan to have a mom so it should be clones from here on in as long as I get one female that is. Before I switch to flowering I'll be taking 2 or 3 clones from each plant and then when I know which are female I'll keep the best looking clone. I really have to start reading again on soil, I'm not looking forward to it at all. I'm glad I only have to do it once basically. Do you know a good soil mix I should be trying? I've bought some with nutes before, didn't work of course, bought organic and mixed with lots of perlite and still didn't work. I'm thinking of using just perlite but probably shouldn't.

I'll probably end up making hash with the trimmings, that's what I did with my other 2 plants and it was pretty good, not the purest because I couldn't do it properly but it was good. If you check out my old grow I just added some pics of what I got.

Definitely no plans on making seeds, I'm trying to stay away from them, lol. I've only done one grow and so far 100% female ratio. I thought I had a hermie but now I don't think I did, I never found a seed through any of the bud, I was just scared I think. I would love to try and make my own strain but definitely no room for that. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be setting up my other grow box again though to flower 1 plant in, 2 just isn't going to be enough for the time it takes to grow.

Make sure you check your mailbox in 11-12 weeks you never know what you might find, I found Jack Herer in mine once.

im suprised that that 98f impacted plant #2 so severly compared to #1. #2 should catch up now though seeing as its in the nute bath. but anyways, i dont know what to suggest when it comes to the height difference and switching over to flowering. i, myself would probably scrog kali #1 and not put a screen over #2. that way you can keep plant #1 at a certain height for a few weeks while the other catches up and then switch to flowering. but who knows. im not the smartest so i suggest getting more opinions on that one. i checked out that old grow right after my other post so i guess i should have edited with what i saw. hash turned out good. and i would suggest that just the same. maybe even some BHO, thats my personal favorite. so many things you can do with it, and it lasts Forever. so good luck man, im doubt youll need it, though.

edit - as for the "i thought i had a hermie, but now i dont think i did"... didnt you find seeds? i thought i read a post where you had cut balls off? who knows. and as for the mailbox.. sweet, all i find is junk. :[

That extreme heat did nothing to #1 and #2 it didn't look like it did much, 2 hours after being watered she was looking straight up again but went into a comma. I was thinking about not having a screen over #2 but when I think of my last grow it might not be a good idea, last time #2 grew halfway over #1 and got way to tall, being this is a sativa I'm guessing it will have no problem out growing the box if left to do its thing. I guess time will tell.

On #1 last time I did find what I thought were seeds, I posted a pic of them but I didn't cut any balls off, didn't see any, I thought #2 sprayed #1 but #2 didn't have any seeds or balls either. So yeah I don't know, I didn't find any more of what I took a pic of and it all seemed about the same potency, oh well it doesn't matter any more anyways.

Well I guess things are going better at this point, I've taken tons of leaves off #1 because of the nute burning but its finally getting under control. I'm going to put fresh water in tonight, any ideas on what I should set the PPM level to for these plants? I have it at 160ppm at .5 conversion which I think is to low? My last plants at this time were at 600ppm and did fine with it. I'm 42 days in since I moved them to the net pots.

Next thing is cloning, I've read up on it and have a pretty good idea what to do but is it a good time to do it in 3 days? I know #1 is big enough but is it healthy enough? #2 is healthy enough but is it big enough? Also how long should I wait after I clone to flip to 12/12 on the original plants or can I flip immediately after?

#1 looks fine to clone. Id wait on #2. I'd give them 3-5 days to recover (some may wait less, some even more) before putting the moms into budding IMO.

thanks! It is growing fast so hopefully another week will do. Gives #1 time to get healthier as well I guess. I just finished the water change and set the PPM to 175 @ .5, any thoughts from anyone on what i should have it at?

hydros not my thing, but it sounds a little low to me. i thought it should be around 800ppm? Guess thats why I am no a hydro guy.

Sorry I didn't read every-thing , But hey when is the last time you flushed real good & cleaned the res good??? Then if you bring it back to the .5 you have now, & see if they dont snap back. I wouldn't go over 800ppm Or 1.7 EC.
