well by now i'd bet that he would notice a difference between grows, i bet his op is pretty regular for production..


dwave, do you just veg for a good root set and toss em into 12 12 right away? half and half?

since this is basicaly just an ebb and flow system, it should be possible to rig up those float valves in bigger, more space efficent trays?

do you get salt build ups on your smart valves? or not really.

Mord, my friend, sorry it took so long to respond but I went on a mini vacation.

And your right my OP is pretty regular to the point of boring and I am getting to where I hate harvesting and really hate popcorn buds. For now I put them in a large rubbermaid for future hash.

Vegging, I plant and harvest each month, give or take a week. So I clone for an entire month preparing for the next month. When I put the clones in they are 1 inch tall, when they come out they are 6-8 inches tall and have roots anywhere from 6 inches to 4 feet That all the veg time they get, then straight to autopots and flower

I have been experimenting with superthrive in my cloner and will make a post in advanced techniques when I am finished. The results with my particular strain, AK-47/48 is amazing.

Ebb and Flow vs Autopots.... Autopots are not ebb and flow, which would be my second choice. Autopots are more like self watering pots that require the medium to be able to wick up water and nutes, where as ebb and flow fills to a certain area. The smart valves only fill up to 1 inch of water/nutes and do not allow flow again until all of that is used up.

As far as space is concerned I could do an ebb/flow or DWC which I wanted to do, but when I saw your thread and the time you spent in there. I was against it becuz of the time required. I spoke with Mr Postman on a few occasions where he spoke of his problems with them. Mind you, Mr Postman liked to do Teas which easily clogged the smartvalve.

So I went with GH and the lucas formula on a 400 watt grow that turned out really nice and simply expanded.

Salt Buildup.... every new grow I put my smartvalves in the dishwasher. I do have some build up but that has never effected the function of the valve.

However, my grow room would not be there without you guyz. You guyz provided the knowledge, I am just interpreting and condensing it and am giving it back to you in a manner that i hope makes sense.

hah, you could do a complete redesign every other grow like me :P its certainly not boring, i feel like its the 1st time every time (cuz basicaly, it is)

yeah my methods are far too time consuming, and the "1st date" excitement has worn off, haha, though even as I say this I have a garage full of strange parts and plans to try yet another growing method (aero)

so i'm going to guess there's no light adjustment going on, you have a set level and let the plants grow into them?

haha i do the same thing.. i use all the popcorn for hash and just save the nicest tips to smoke. The couple friends who know about my grow get soooo pissed off at me for this lol.

if ya get bored maybe try throwing a new strain into the mix or something.. anyway great job as always.

I do plan on redesiging my growtent with a DIY type mom/cloner box.

Parts! Lotsa of extra parts! I got them too and had to rent a small storage space in order to prevent questions, lol.

You are right I never move the lights. I have these AK-47/48's pretty well figured out as far as stretch and total plant hieght.

Yeah, I saw a nifty trick where the guy used a washing machine with ice to separate the trichs from the leaf. I thot that was so ingenious. I may try that one day.

Your right AW, maybe it's time for a new strain, I got some Chronic bud, WW and Crystal moms. I guess it's time to break them out.

Very nice setup. I have to go with the "always locked door", but there is no way to tell what is going on in that closet. Call it "our safe storage" where we keep our safes and collectables. My mom chamber has a shelving unit as it's entire front wall though. Like your stealth design. I feel for ya having to keep it away from the Mrs, it took me months to convince mine that it was the "right thing to do"!

I wanta do a challenging strain,,,, decent yield but has to be strong.

I've been looking at G-13 x haze and Jack Herer..... thats what I'll get unless you guys have any good suggestions.

But it has to be a named strain, not some butter goat nut crunch from albania, lol. But yet something that rocks and is hard to get.

Help me out bros, gimme your thots!

PS. I took my last batch of AK-47/48 to 10 weeks,,, whatta difference,,,, giggingly at first, then couch lock then giggingly again then WTF thats was cool! 3 hour buzz but I am a light weight.

You'll probably be quite happy with the Jack Herer, all head high there, my best hands down so far.

Thanks Rob, I've notice JH seeds have finally started to come down while the G-13 seeds are still $130+.

Well, I harvested and cured the last batch, time to replace them with some nooby AK-47's and one WW to test out.




They seem to be happy in their new home


Now on the other side, I have a serious stretcher, already topped it twice and it looks like I will have to do it again. In about 3 weeks I'll show you the result,

cant go wrong with the cani. cup winners. araj. ultra haze #4, the stuff at highgrade seeds looks pretty good, i like how they grow their strains and post pics so you can at least see what your in for.

Agreed, love the cup winners, that why I started with AK-47, it had won the most of various cups at the time when I started. The Araj strain doesn't fit my growing needs thou I did look at it for a long time b4 I talked myself out of it,

High grade, well, they just seem so new that I wonder about whether their strains are stabilized correctly so that each plant doesn't show wildly varying pheno traits. I have seen some grows that looked very different side by side, if ya know what I mean.

I think it's Mendels law #3 that demonstrates it has to stabilized over and over by selected Father and Mother plants before it can be trusted. Even thou as ya know some strains no matter how stable revert back to lesser desired traits.

What caught my eye was there Vintage seeds... Aculpoco gold, columbia gold and Panama red mixed with WW,,,, those are classic!!! Thats when Sensimilla or Sensi was born! Also when prices soared to $40 an ounce, omfg, lol.

Anyway I decided not to buy to new seeds but to upgrade my room with (1) 1000 watter and an excellent reflector that can handle the 4 x 5 area. I've also come with a way to increase the reflection of light off the walls for my area. And perfect WW, Chronic bud and Ice seeds that I have.

I promise to show all without the dull HPS haze, lol.

Should be nice using a 1000watts in a 4x5. highgrade is pretty new but I want to give them a try, their (NL#5xBlueBerry) BIG BLUE and see. I am looking for a good SOG cashcropper type plant, and am reluctant to send out tons of money in the mail. We'll see.

Also when prices soared to $40 an ounce, omfg, lol.

Nothing like a 1000% increase in price from that $40 either! I bet that has something to do with why we are all here at GC!
