PC Grow Box

I am still living at home with the parents, but they are oblivious about my "habit", anyway I want to grow some personal smoke, not much, but i hope to yield between 1-4oz. I have an old AlienWare Desktop PC case that Im not using and I think it would be the perfect stealth grow box since i can put it virtually anywhere in my room without suspicion.

The dimensions of the box are 21"x8"x18". Its a gaming PC from like 2years ago and its loaded with fans and a nice 450watt power supply.

Would this box work to my advantage?
- (If Yes) Where can I go to get info/walk through on how to build the grow-box??
- How much of a hassle is it going to be for the plant to grow in a small condition like this?

Well, if you have been reading up on this site, youve proly seen me or someone else say "It is not smart to grow in your parents house, since it is the same as them growing if you get caught, therefor putting their names at risk" however, everyones situation is different, and you need to make your own choices.
Having said that, if you decide to proceed,
PC case grows are often very small, overheated, and obviously limit you to CFL's only.
There really isnt much to em, i would empty it out as much as possible, except for fans, reflective material and a CFL. You wont be getting much, as there isnt much room to grow. I think even 1 ounce is overshooting it, however I havnt tried one myself. There are other threads you can read up on of people who have done this already, just use the search box. Good luck, and consider the consequences for you and your parents.

I understand the risk of getting caught, but I really keep to myself. Im not a seller, only a user and I dont plan to make this experiment public lol. I rent out the basement of my house and like I said earlier my parents really dont bother me down here. I have a closet I plan on keeping the case in and the fans I have on the PC, they are those super-quite ones so it should be pretty discrete.

Is the money that I am going to have to put into the case before anything can grow worth the yield that comes out?

I did a case grow in the alienware I just sacrificed for my LED grow. I got 1.12oz from the grow. It was potent, but a lot of time and effort for very little yield.

It's a great learning experience though. I'd go for it.

you have the same case as me lol but I am having a hard time finding a walkthrough to put this thing together (supplies, where to put it in case, etc...)

And with a case of this size, it doesnt allow alot of room for flowering so what seeds did u use??

And like tS said this is just a learning experience. Me and my fioncee are planning on getting a house by summer and I want to know what im doing by then for a better turnout

Alright so Im tearing down this old PC case and getting everything ready for setup, and I have a few questions before I go buy my supplies

- How do I wire the lights & fans on same current? My PC fans are DC (PC Power Supply) and the lights are AC (Outlet Plug), I want to remove the PC power supply to allow more room and more CFM. I found AC Current fans online, but how quite are they?

- How many fans should I use? I have 3 fans already in the computer, 1 on the side (Door), 1 on the back (components), and 1 in the front. They are all 80mm fans

- Mylar (hard to find) or White Painted Cardboard? I am having a hard time finding mylar, and I dont want to risk it using aluminum foil, so should I hunt for mylar or just paint cardboard with white paint?

- What should I use to cover the hardware holes in the PC case? If I remove the power supply I wont have the backing of the case to cover the hole.. Should I put the carbon filter in this location??

- How do I keep the scent lowkey? I know its going to smell delicious and I dont need my parents smelling it.. best method? I already have made a Carbon filter.
And i think thats it.. any help with this would be great.. this is my first indoor/hydro grow so this is all new to me. Id appreciate any help and any criticism, I'm sure I have a lot of improvement

Any strain will work. Remember a plant is like a fish. The smaller the area the smaller it will be. The bigger the area the bigger it will be. Plants stretch towards the light not beyond it. Def. reccomend LST with this one.

Just got back from homedepot and got some supplies, still missing some stuff though.

I picked up:
- Activated Carbon filter, Alumium Wire Wrap (Screen Door Replacement) & some HVAC supplies to build the Carbon Filter
- Electrical timer
- Wall outlet to Light bulb converter for the lighting

I need to find some mylar & a few of those covers you put inplace of DVD/CD burners on the PC cuz mine are missing and then ill beready to build this box

Like i've been saying, any advice or constructive criticism would be great, this is my first time and I plan to make this a learning experience.

Im starting to worry about odor, and insects. How can i prevent, the although delicious, odor from stinking up my living area? I have already made a carbon filter/scrubber and I am probably going to use dryer sheets around the exhaust fans, but im sure once flowering starts its going to get out of hand?

And those little flys and insects - how do i keep them off my plants and out of my box?

As for Odor, I recommend an ONA block. It should cover a PC case no problem. Does your basement normally have insects?

We get sprayed (inside & out) by Terminex (company that professionally rids of insects, spiders, etc..) every 3months and his last visit was 2weeks ago. But no i normally wont see anything. But I know some soils will have little eggs or something were the insects will hatch from and I want to prevent that.

I went to home depot yesterday to finish buying supplies and i think i bought the wrong lights..
I got CFL lights:
- Soft White 40w (equivalent) CFL @ 2700k
- Day Light 60w (equivalent) CFL @ 5500k

and whats the best type of soil to use?

Do you have a how-to on your carbon scrubber? As for soil, I would use anything organic. Fox Farm is highly regarded but expensive. Just check the ingredients for good stuff like worm castings or bat guano.
