Cool ScrOG cabinet (first time DIY)

i tried to DIY as much of this as possible, from the 9 plant DWC system, to the cabinet its self, and the even the infamous DIY carbon filter... and btw, when it comes to making a DIY carbon filter, the third time really is the charm ... [pratice makes perfect]

anyways, this is what i got

grow system:

9 plant 3" net pots

2 large rio air pumps

2 long bubble stones (they make tiney bubbles)

1 regular air stone (bigger bubbles)

floragrow, micro, bloom. and floralicous

cabinet:

main compartment 19" deep x 38" wide x 4 feet tall

painted flat white

400w MH and 400w HPS i can switch from one to the other in about 5 minutes.

cooltube with a 250cfm duct fan it has its own intake and exhaust so the heat is isolated and it dosnt mess with the rest of the cab

24" carbon filter

two lower compartments, one for clones and bansai mommy and another to house all the electric stuff

i picked up an unninterupted power source.

i have also been trying to figure out what the best fan to use would be, cant be any bigger than 12 inches, and has to be 250 cfm or more. and as as quiet as possible.

i would love to hear any questions or constructive comments.

inline fans are pretty good and fairly quiet. I like your setup. I find the stealth grows to be a little harder then I thought.

Are you on a budget? I seen some good can fan systems for about 250-350 complete with filter, fan, adapter and ducting.

Nice Job. That is similar to what I have for a cab. Except I have a 6" 400cfm Vortex fan and it quiet only uses 85 Watts. Anyways I wanted to know where you intake is on your cab I see your Cooltube has its own intake and exhaust but what about the cab?

these pictures are of the 2 3/4 inch holes i drilled so i could silicone some 2 inch 90 Degree elbows.

in one of the pictures you can see a 3 inch hole drilled on the right side of the DWC tub. that is where all the ballasts and plugs are kept, there is an intake hole in that compartment, as well as cracks in the doors and the seams i didnt seal.

Questions 1: is that enough intake? im planning on letting the fan create negative pressure instead of adding an intake fan. (seems like overkill to me)

im gonna be putting an exhaust fan inside the cab mounted above the cooltube....

i dont have a problem venting the air out the top of the cab, or the back, but if i have to do it out the side, it has to be the right side.

(unless you guys have a better idea)

i wanna use a QUIET inline fan, i had the 465 cfm ecoplus (squirrel cage style) in mind for two reasons.

1.) it was advertised as a quiet fan, but i just found out its pretty noisey.

2.) because the flanges were allready mounted on it.

i wanna get a fan that dosnt have to struggle to pull air through a small to medium size carbon filter, and exchange the air every couple minutes, 24/7

Question 2: what fan would you suggest?

and remember QUIET is KEY

Nice cab you have. If the intake is drawing air from the bottom cab then that might not be good. The air outside the box is probably fresher then in the bottom cab. A 3" hole should be big enough as long as the exhaust runs enough to bring in fresh air.

Don't know about a quiet fan, vortex fans aren't that quiet at least mine isn't, they move lots of air though. Inline fans are quiet but don't move much air especially through a filter. If you go with a vortex a 4" is all you need since your light is cooled separately. Good luck.

Thumbs up getting close

i finished the carbon filter. wrapped the outer section of section in screen material then filled it wil activated carbon found at the pet store. then cut a piece of particle material and zip tied that on to controll carbon dust.

I FINALLY bought a fan, its an ACTIVE AIR 265 cfm. we tried the ecoplus squirrel cage, as well as the inline version there in the store. and I like active air

Not to sound too horribly stupid, but what is the benefit/purpose of the screen?
