My first grow / Room

Ok, here we go...


I have half the side of a closet, i'll post pictures later. but here are the things i will have in there. i'm hoping to just grow 2 plants for now. and it kinda has to be discreet to people viewing it outside of the closet.

White plastic tarp (to create the room inside the closet so no mold gets in)

Digital thermometer that tests Humidity and heat

2 decent size fans, one at top blowing air out and one down below bringing air in

possabily a humidifier?

2 Floureset (i cant spell lol) bulbs on each plant

soil is 10/5/5 Miracle grow organic

the pots can drain water. and it's siting in a plastic container.

this is also my first grow, but if there is anything else i could add to this please let me know and i'll take into consideration

Ok... i've got everything setup except my fans, and a humidifier wich i'm not even sure if i will need?... also i'm trying to save the life of my friends plant who he grew way out of whack. he had 2 but i stripped one, Germenating a few seeds, and will throw one in the other pot to go with that other light, just felt the need that maybe they both should be on

Tell me what you think please, and if i should add anything to it.. or anything let me know, thanks for looking and all you're idea's are very helpful.

And yes those cats are a pain in the ass sometimes

Whats the watts of your CFL's and im guessing your using daylight which is for veg which your in right? 18/6?

Whats the strain your growing?

How old is your plant?

the wattage is 27w but it says it's like 100, so i have about 400w of lights in there. also on for 24/7

the strain i have no idea. but the ones i'm germanating are Trainwreck seeds :-D

Plant i think is like 2weeks old. it was poorly grown. just hoping i can fix that lol if not i'll just strip it out, and do another trainwreck lol

i also have a question, i have a small light leak just around the edges of the closet where the doors shut and on the ground.. is that something that will seriously mess it up? or is it ok? i'm trying to come up with a solution on how i can fix that anyways with out messing it up everytime i open the door. also, what should the temps be around i keep hearing so many different temps... like 70 to 80 is good.. and i hear 85 to 95 is good. so i'm just not sure what it should be at.

you should get reflectors to keep the light down to the plant.

Good reflectors will help and any light leak will only be a ploblem when in flower,so fix it befor that.Temps need to be 70-80f. w/o sup. CO2 and 80-95f. with.Enjoy!

Don't go by that "100w replacement" stuff, it's not what you're looking for. You're getting about 25w per light, and thats what you go by. So you have 100w of lighting in what appears to be a pretty big area... you need a lot more light. Get more Y-splitters and a shit load more bulbs, and you'll be well on your way .

Berlettes is right,unless your only doin 2 plants and wastin the top half of the grow area.CFLs will work but they really dont penetrate well for your 6'+ high area,so use more on top and if you grow over 4' use um on the sides if you want nice lateral buds.You got a nice HID tent,you can go bigger if you want.

So.. when they get a little bigger put some side lights in there as well?

also another question is.. how can i vent the indisde of that, while keeping it from being noticed from the outside? i also fixed my light leaking problem. having a hard time figuring the fan crap out... could i just have a fan up top blowing air out to the other half of the closet? and a small fan on the bottom blowing air in? or does the air have to be coming from outside my closet?

and another thing, i hear 18/6 is a good time for lights to be on.. but i hear 24/7 is better?

That plant has had that light much higher than you now have it corect?How far has the light been throughout its whole lifespan?Find us the lights kelvin please.

Couldn't tell you, my buddy grew it in a desk.. and he brought it over lookin like that, so i made that room, to try and save it / grow my own stuff anyways.. but i'm probably just going to rip it out and start my own seedlings.

I still need some answers on these questions i have. so please please please help me out me love you long time.


so... those 4 lights only put out 100w?? are all those kind of lights like that? how many more should i get in there?

blah i have all kinds of questions, but all your answers are well appreciated.

So basically what I really need to know is.

1.) How many of those "26w" ("100w") CFL daylight bulbs would i need for 2 plants in that space? Should all the lights be up top pointing down? or the way i have it now but with some on the sides?

2.) PH testing... Do i need a Water PH and a Dirt PH tester.. or is there a cheap 1 combo item i can get.

3.) Lighting 24/7 or 18/6? for veg stage.

4.) If i have more CFL lights are Reflecters still needed? cause if thats the case... i have to take the y things off and put refelcters on it? i mean if it's not NEEDED then i dont wanna get it. i mainly wanna get this up and running asap.

5.) That white tarp. is that good? or should i get that other stuff i see people with. looks like those emergency blankets.

6.) Venting issue. i have no fans up because i'm not sure if i have to have my closet wide open for it to get air.. or are fans inside with the doors still shut ok? (Trying not to do construction to any walls because this is an apartment lol) the closet is not air tight. and has a black blanket outside of it to keep the light from leaking wich works

7.) I have a Digital Temp gage in there, reading at about 79.7 (wich i can see sittin here on my reciever woot!) wich i assume is good. but will also go up with the lights, so that brings back to venting issue.

8.) Humidifier? And what should the averge humidity be inside the room?

After these questions are answerd, i will gladly start new seedlings, and keep everyone updated in the growing forums.

Also after reading through the sickling pages, i belive i will go get some Black gold soil too, because i hear everyone saying MG sucks lol, and i used the same stuff i tried to a long time ago, it got all burnt from the fertz wich back then i had no clue why my plant was like that, i do now tho.

i'll be on probably all day tommorw trying to figure this out so i can actually get started.. cause i got seeds germanating, and they didn't sprout yet but i'm sure tommorw will be a different story.
