Thumbs up Undercover Grower (Stealth Grow Box)!

*UNDERCOVER GROWER*

Operation: Stealth Grow Box
Location: My Bedroom Dresser
Reason: I have always loved toking up some dank ass green buds, I do
not have the money to spend on Cannabis, and I have always been interested in
growing my own personal stash of buds to smoke up on from time to time with out spending a single dime! Well Okay I spent like $30. Alright on we go, I needed a stealthy location to grow my crop and I couldn't afford to spend
that much money, I already had some various odds and ends laying around the tool shed. But where, where would I hide a few Cannabis plants, and actually grow
them seed to weed without anybody noticing? I had a few ideas, I have this old fridge that doesn't work that well, I have always dreamed of turning a refrigerator into a secret grow box! I just didn't have the money that I would have
needed to really make it worth my while, so I needed to think fast as I already had some small seedlings growing outside. I remember an idea that I pondered about one day, I thought about converting a dresser into a grow box by removing the
drawers, removing the front of each drawer and making a door with the fronts of each drawer so the dresser would still seem to be a normal functioning dresser, however since the drawers themselves have been removed the entire space of the dresser would be open and with a little weatherstrip and silicone could be made light and air tight, throw in a few fluorescent lights, an electrical timer, a few fans, some 4" dryer tubing, 2 (110v) receptacles, and some other odds and ends and you could have a perfect stealth grow box sitting in plain view allowing you to grow and
harvest your own buds. OK here is my version based on what I thought up in my head a few years back.

Please disregard the date on all of the following pictures, the date on
the camera was off.

Okay here we have a normal dresser, appears to be functional,
while it is functional, it is no longer functioning as a dresser.
It is actually my first undercover grow, and stealthy dresser grow box!

Here is the door that I was talking about, I basically just removed
the face of each drawer and screwed them together to make the
dresser look just as it did before, and function as a door, which is
screwed shut! I lined the edges with weatherstrip from my local
rue Value for a few bucks.

Here is a shot of the dresser with the door removed, by removing all
of the drawers my dresser is nothing more than a big wooden
box. Perfect for growing a few small plants for personal toking.

Just another shot with the door open.

Here is my control center which I have fixed to the inner
wall of the dresser grow box, the lower outlet is plugged
directly into an wall socket behind the dresser, the top
outlet is wired to the timer, and controls the lights which
are fluros by the way. Next to that I have a thermometer,
and a humidity meter to keep an eye on my environment,
and make the correct changes and adjustments if needed.

Here is another picture of the control center.

I am using 2 PC 12Vdc fans for intake and exhaust
ventilation, they are very reliable, quiet and they do
move a bit of air. I am using the one on the left for
the fresh air intake, and the one on the right that is
hooked up to the dryer hose is routed to the top of
the dresser for the exhaust, I figured that since heat
rises, the exhaust should suck its air from the top of the box.

Here we see where I have routed the 4" dryer hose
that is connected to the exhaust fan.

Here is where the intake/exhaust fans are connected to,
this cardboard box, which is divided into separate
compartments for the intake side, and exhaust side.
The exhaust side is vented through the hole on the top
of the box, and the intake is drawing its currents for
the small hole on the front of the box, that is soon to
be someway connected to the A/C vent on the floor
just about a foot away.

Here is my ballast for the two 4 foot fluros, I "extracted" it
from an brand new 4 foot fluro light fixture. I have also mounted
it to the inner wall of the dresser, I soldered and heat shrinked
my wires directly to the probes on the end of each fluorescent
bulb, it saved the space that I did not have to put the whole
light fixture in the dresser, I already had the run them at an
angle to make them fit!

Here is another shot of my thermometer and my humidity meter.

Here is a one of my seedlings, I was kinda wondering
what that mild spotting on the lower leaves would indicate,
as none of my other seedlings have this and overall they
seem very healthy!

Seedling number 2!

Number 3!

Number 4!

Number 5!

And finally number 6! Give me your feedback, I am dying to know what people think of my stealth grow box, and before you go ragging on me for what could have been done better, this is my first indoor grow, and I accomplished this for under $30 and it only took me a few days!

the walmart light isn't gonna cut it. that things like 15 watts. You also used the wrong side of the aluminum foil, the shiny side makes heat spot. Also, about the venting... our little fans dont push out a lot of cfm. That tubing ontop of going downward, looks long - I think its gonna need more umph to push air through that. I can also asure you that thing ain't big enough for 6 plants so remember that...

Nice little grow box, good luck!

Actually the little fluro that is hanging above the plants is a grow-lux bulb made for vegative plant growth, but yes, I could definately use more lumens, and I was also wondering which side of foil to use, but what do you mean about the shining side making heat spot?
I do agree about the need for bigger fans, but the noise that they would create would arouse suspicion, I am 18 and still live at home, my dad is cool and we blaze together, but he is totally against growing any indoor buds, tells me to go out in the woods, which I do have a small patch in the woods, but I also wanted to have an indoor growing op where I can control the environment and force the plants to flower when they have reached desired height. I have seen more than 6 plants being grown in a large tupperware container, I mean a HUGE tuppeware container, it was still smaller than my dresser grow box, but they did succeed in producing a quality yeild, so I am not too woried about the number of plants, as I expect some to be males anyways, I am just going to get one female and clone the hell out of it!

Growing without the "Homeowners" permission....is Bad ..."Ju-Ju"
This could cause some real "Shit" between you and your dad...is it worth it? for a lil' smoke?

A grow-opp should always be in your own home

Yeah, I should have permission, but I figure that since he never comes in my room or go's through my stuff that I should be fine, and of course I am going to blaze up the buds with him when they are finished.

The other day my dad asked me if I had any buds, and I told him that I had a Joint, and would have quite a bit to stash back in a few months, I then went ahead and told him that aside from the bud plants that were in the woods, that I was growing a few small plants in my room. I walked him in my room, and he was like, "where, where are you going to grow a few plants in here, your room is packed as it is". I opened the front of my dresser, and he was amazed that for over a week, he has been smoking out with me in my room and had no clue that there was plants in my room. He said that it was all cool since it was un-noticable and told me that I had better do something about the smell. I will post some up-dated plant pictures soon as they are really taking off, and I only plan on letting them get about 1.5 feet before flowering them, I am also going the top all plants and tie them over to get them to bush out, rather than grow straight up, more bud sights, and keeps them short.

I am very impressed with the amount of work and dedication you put into that grow bow in just a week for $30. Thats awesome, I wish I had the balls to pull off something like that in my room. I also think its cool that you came out and told your dad instead of keeping it from him for the 10+ weeks that your grow will be going on.

damn bro! I've seen so many stealth grows, and helped out so many....and even done a few myself...and i thought those were crazy.... but dude, this is perfectly set up! (If everything works as planned that is)

Nicely organized and thought out heh, your babies seem pretty healthy so far, they'll have the perfect grow space as well. What strain are they?
