Lamp recomendation needed

Sup everyone, I'm new here..... O_o, anyway...

I'm lookin' to get into growing my first plant, just for fun. I have very basic knowledge of growing, but I have close friends who are experienced outdoor growers, and can help me when I decide to move the plant outside.

Already been reading, The sprout still hasn't poked through the top of the soil yet (germinated in paper towels in a sealed container), but when it does I want to be ready. So I'm looking at grow lamp suggestions

Basically I'm in need of a lamp for ONLY ONE PLANT, I don't really care about growing more than one plant at the moment, so again, I'm REALLY only looking for a decent yet affordable grow lamp that I don't have to worry about getting too hot in space restricting areas - so the lamp must be compact and easy to maneuver in tight areas. Yet again, I don't know much about grow lamps, so hopefully something feasible exits.

I planned on growing this plant indoors until it's a few feet tall, then moving it outdoors in a large pot.

Let the suggestions and constructive criticism flow...

for you i would say cfl's are the way to go cheap and effective enough esp. for only one plant, also they are readily available and if you already planted it your going to need to get a light fast! Get at LEAST a 40watt cfl and you may want to add another one as the plant gets bigger. GL

I took two Y-socket adapters and pluged one into the other, giving me a nice little 3 lite fixture. Works great for my plant so far, 26x3= 78 watts

What size space are you planning on using inside? and do you plan to just veg and then take it outside to its permanent home? If your just growing 1 plant it has a 50/50 chance of being male or female. That would suck to veg it until 3 feet tall and have it be male unless you plan on using fem seeds, growing 2 plants to up the odds, or presex a couple smaller plants early in vegging.

In a small area you probably could get away with a compact fluorescent and fiming your plant a couple times in a small area (2x4 box/closet/cab for example. If you plan on 3 feet and make sure it has good ventilation).

Could use this for 1 plant keeping it 1-2 inches away.

or a bunch of spiral fluorescents (27 watt, 42 watt etc). Just make sure they equal 100 watts or more and the are not 100 watts incandescent. Make sure they are daylight.

Swa_Swa, The spiral daylight fluorescents look like they would be perfect. I'll even rig up some small fans to cool down the lamps.
The space I'll be using is about a 3x3 box made out of wood and the bottom is a thick plastic storage tub in case I decide to turn it into a water bubbler type setup for cloning or something.
