noob question, can you put a 150w hps in a 250w ballast/socket?

Well since the ballast is set-up to pump 250W of power through to the light, but the light is only 150W, it is an overload of power to the light. It will probably blow the bulb the second your switch it on. I wouldn't do it.

aah point taken. somehow i thought maybe that the 250watter would power "up to" a 250watt bulb. thanks
