Light Combination/Layout
Simple question I hope. Suppose someone were laying out a cabinet:
-3/4" Exterior grade plywood, 4Wx2Dx6H
-Sealed and painted white, rolling on lockable castors
-Divided into a 1ft high upper (electronics, ballast, etc..), 5ft high lower chambers (each has a separate door)
So there's this lower chamber 2Dx4Wx5H ft that would need to be lit. Taking into account a 7-10" high reflector, that leaves about 3.5 to 4 feet of usable hight for containers + plants. (Also taking into account min distance from light is about 6in)
Maybe a SS Galaxy 400W ballast with both MH and HPS bulbs...or would this person be better off with 2x250W of the same because of the length of the box. They can always add CFL fixtures down the sides. Are there any specific reflectors that lend themselves well to a lengthwise install? (air cooled with the vents inline lengthwise also)
What's the most efficient way for this person to make use of the 2x4 foot area? I suppose I could talk this person into adjusting dimensions if a better layout was suggested.
They said thanks. (me too)
