Bubble Bucket

Hello i am going to be setting up a bubble bucket system 5-6 plants and am wondering if you guys have figured out a way to interconnect the buckets and make all in one system?

I saw a few posts talking about it but all the pics i cant see and the instructions arent clear. ( maybe pictures are too old ?)

I am basiclly talking about having a single tank with nutes and be able to regulate the water level of all the buckets.

Setting up one bucket is easy i just cant figure out how i would distribute the water and regulate water levels with 5-6 buckets.

Would i put airstones in every bucket or can i put the airstones in one bucket and distrubute it?

Any adivce is apprcaite will be taken seriously and i will be starting a grow log with pics once the project is started so you are not wasting your time.

I am making a run to home depot tonight
Here is my shopping list

Please feel free to recommend anything that would help

5-6 buckets 3-5 gallon with lid
duct tape
aquarium air pump
air line
T-connector
air stones
6" nursery pot /net pot
rockwool/gravel/rocks
pH/ppm/EC meter
nutes

Anything i am missing or think would be worth it ?

HPS will be here is a few days any lights you can recommend that i could use for
the begining of the grow that would hold me over till the hps arrives but that i could possibly intergrate later? i know flora but what wattage and what kind of light

I am going to be ordering a 400-600 w hps with agro son light

Any help would be greatly apprcaited sorry for all the questions.

Just hook up all the drains together in a series. Fill one and they all fill.

Here is a basic sketch of how to connect them to a control bucket:

I have just finished building this two plant system for my small closet grow. Very simple to hook up.

Okay, but don't you want the water to circulate? I can see that your grow buckets would take water from the reservoir bucket, but don't you want more mixing than that?

Circulating the water would be a fine idea, but not something that has to be done. I do it with a small pond pump (external). I hook to the drail and fill one of the plants till it almost overflows, then I do it to the next plant. When adjusting PH I have to re-circulate a few times like this. The way I do it is real basic and safe.

I messed with the idea of a constant circulating system. It really complicated the whole system. I also found it to be unsafe. If a bucket can't drain as fast as it's being filled then it overflows. Make sure you use a very small pump to allow the system to stay balanced.

I like doing it by hand everyday. It give me a reason to hang out in there. It won't matter a bit if you dont circulate the nutrients. Single unit buckets dont circulate.

Hope that helps, R.

you can do it that way but just remember, one mistake will kill all the plants where as seperate systems keeps the problem localized to just that plant.... Things like Root Rott or Algae or overfert.

think about it.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I respect you for the solid information you give, and when I get around to putting a system together, it will look much like your design.

What I get from reading this is that while circulation is important for a multi-unit system, it's easier done by hand than it is to design a mechanical system to do it. Would you agree?

Instead of buying regular duct tape i recommend getting the shiney, aluminum foil, duct tape stuff. Because 1) No light gets through at all compared to regular duct tape, and 2) because it will also reflect light which is always good too, for maximum light distrubution.

you could also just find a bigger container that would fit all 5 plants, or two medium ones that could fit 2-3 each. props on growin dwc, it is my favorite
