computer fan wiring

hello all. i picked up two computer tower fans today for the grow-box that i'm building. they both say 12v dc. one says .49 amp and the other .56 amp. my question is how to wire them for power. inside a computer there is i'm sure resistors and what not and i'm quite sure if i hard-wire it into an old extension cord i'll have a fire. so, to all whom use pc fans for airflow, how did you do it? any and all help, comments or criticizm is appreciated.

WHAT EVER YOU DO DON"T HARDWIRE!!! You need a adapter for 12v otherwise u could blowup ur fan and cause a fire.

don't worry, i know not to hard wire so if i get a 12v dc charger, like for a cell phone battery or an old cordless drill charger or something similar (maybe even an old laptop charger) that'll be all good? thanks again.

Ok I have another question which is related to this topic. I got a 3" pc fan from radio shack along with a 12v Dc adapter. Now i was thinkin bout maybe putting in some more 3" fans to boost the exhaust a little. So the question is could I just take the one 12v adapter and splice the rest of the wires from the fans with it and make a series circuit or w/e its called or do I have to have 4 big luggy adapters in my box? Thx

^^ pure dankness, i think you can just splice but i'd take the time to do a good job. solder, wire nuts and lots of either shrink wrap or elec tape.

can anyone answer my question about how to power the pc fan? is it as simple as splicing into a 12v charger/adaptor of some sort??

yes, the pc fan I'm using now is just simply spliced with a 10v sega genesis power adaptor. I use a less voltage power adaptor so the fan runs slower than normal thus helping to quiet it down. its all the same stuff though.
