Small Stealth Grow
I'm new to the indoor grow scene, and I want to start a stealth grow for maybe one or two small plants. I would like it to be a small, quick grow also, so any tips are appreciated. Could anyone give me the basic necessities that I will need for a successful grow? Thanks in advance
Also, I'm a little worried that the lighting could cause fire problems because its in a closet. Is there anything I should do about this? Last edited by Valtrex_Man : 09-16-2006 at 08:47 PM. |

since your doing a small grow, its should be a potent plant like white russian ~
you can grow under a large cfl or maybe use a 70-150watt hps. depending on ventilation. i would really advise you just to buy a cupboard and have a full drobe rather then a small space. unless you are trying to learn the ropes, but even if you are better to invest then waste money. it might set you back $800-$1000 but on our first harvest you could break even. cupboard, carbon filter, 400watt hps,400watt mh, 2 fan 4-5inches, mylar a few other things and your done |

Hey man, I'm trying to do the same thing you are, I found a cool grow box you might want to check out. Its at thegrowbox.com they have different sizes, but I think I'm going with the Candeo HPS ($289.00). Its got a 150w HPS lamp and bulb, exhaust fan, water pump, water irrigation system, timer, and temperature guage all built right in. It seems perfect for 1 plant, its compact too (38" x 10" x 10"). Someone suggested you would need to light proof it because the sides are made out of glass, but that should be easy. Just thought I'd let you know about it, check it out and see what you think. I'd be interested in others opinions on it too.

First of all I don't think there is such thing as a quick grow. However, if you set things up right, you can make things move along efficiently as possible. I would suggest reading grandpas grow guide for your essentials. Once you understand the scope of your project you will be able to decide for yourself what you need, or what you have already that will work. If you have questions thats what we are here for
. I think your research will find that for 2 plants you need atleast 2 square feet and atleast 100watts. 2 sq. feet is easy to achieve in a closet. It will give 2 plants room to bush out. If it is an 8 foot closet then you probably have enough height to not worry about it but you may search for a different growing technique to maximize yield. Forced air movement it a must no matter what light. Depending on what light you have will determine how much air you will have to move to cool it. If you don't have a plan for air intake and exhaust start planning because your light will need cool, fresh air as well as the plants. I think that being able to cool your space to proper growing temps will determine your lights setup. Basically if you cannot get strong enough airflow to the growspace for cooling, then fluorescent lights would probably be best. If you can set up a system of airflow then you can get a HID. Remember, your plants will always need some fresh CO2 whether or not your lights need cooling. Airflow is important in a stealth grow because mostly it is a sealed growspace and we won't have fresh air unless we put some there .Thegrowbox.com has some neat stuff, if you have the money they take a lot of work out of the project. To me they take all of the fun out . BTW they do also sell covers for blocking the light too. It is a good thing to be paranoid about fire because it's safety first. Get a smoke alarm for your closet and have an extinguisher close by. Use outlets approved for items in your grow. Water intensive grows, like hydro, I suggest GFI outlets. For a closet grow one 15A circuit should be just fine. A dedicated one is best but if you have to share a circuit, do not overload another. Again, this all depends on light/electronics requirements. I apologize as I am stoned and rambling. I just suggest reading all of the stickys and coming back with a basic plan to start. There are a lot of creative ways to do things so see what you have to work with, let us know, and we will help.
