About a single tank during the cold months. I use twice as much when it gets hot.

That's not so bad, I think I can handle that. A smaller area should mean less too.

Right on INEEDAN8TH! I'm glad you like what I did in my closet. It's a blast thinking of stuff to build. I could not have done it without forums like this and folks who share ideas.
Thanks for the love my brotha. |

I'm going to be attempting a grow very similar to yours and have slowly accumulated most of the parts minus the co2 system which I may buy in a few months depending on my cash flow situation. My latest question for you is I recently acquired a Hanna Gro Check Continuous Ph/TDS meter and saw that you at one point anyway had the same thing. It looks like you used the same type fittings to attach them to your buckets as your drain fittings. If this is case I would like to know cause until I saw that particular pic I was unsure of how to go about attaching this to my bucket. Also anyway input on that particular meter would be great Its the dark Blue meter that when mounted is a vertical rectangle.
Thanks again for the inspiration. |

The probes are threaded to fit 1/2" PVC. Intall the fittings into your bucket or tank and screw it in. I stopped using mine because it did not reflect the readings form my hand-held meters.

Sorry to bother you again but what meters are you using now, Continuous, hand held, both? I just really admire what you've done and would like your input on the meter issue it's one of the last things I've got to complete, other than the co2 which will take me at least 2-3 months to save up for. I've also have a pH Pro meter I got free which retails @ about $190 from my roommate. Spare one laying around, he's a landscaper. It's made by spectrum technoligies, here's the site /www.specmeters.com/pH_Meters/pH_Pro_Meter.html. Seeing as I only paid $139 for the Hanna Gro Check for continuous pH/TDS I figure the pH Pro would be better for pH readings. Where you having more fluctuation in pH or TDS readings with the continuous Hanna meter? Just wondering, I still have at least 1 month till my current "project" is ready to get the chop.

This is a repost:
You can't go hydro without a PH meter. Ph changes alot (sometimes daily). I have a total of five different PH meters. I had more, but I tossed out the real cheap-o's. The ones that are $14 are worthless. You get what you pay for. I have two Hanna meters and one monitor: The Hanna HI-98129 combo (the black one below) is great for TDS/EC, but with most Hanna meters the PH readings seem to drift all over the damn place. I cailbrate all my meters before ever grow. The HI-98128 PHEP (red one) works ok, but it takes a while to get a reading and never agrees with any of my other gages. The three Hanna gages I have never agree on PH (ever). The monitor (I can't find the exact picture, but it's in one of my grow pictures), was great for two grow cycles. It died half way through the third. ![]() The Milwaukee SM101 is a great PH meter. It is very low tech though. You have to calibrate your temp knob every time you use it to get a correct temperature adjusted reading. Most other meters will do that for you. I have to say, this meter gives you a reading as soon as it hits the nutrient. **Update..... The Milwaukee probe went out in less then 9 months. ![]() The EXTECH PH100 is the one I use most. It agrees with the Milwaukee and gives fast results. I did have to replace the probe one time in the two years I have owned it. It costs more then half the total price of the whole meter. It has never been wrong about PH (like the Hanna). ![]() Most the meters above will cost you $70 or more. Every company makes a high end and a low end meter line. Buy one good one. TDS/EC is important to most hydro growers, except me. I use the Lucas formula. I don't do "add back", I dump every two weeks and make a new batch. The Hanna combo meter works real good for the TDS/EC. I use it to check my RO water. It lets me know when to change my filters. EXTECH makes a combo meter. I had one and dropped it bad. It broke and I never replaced it. |

Cant say enuf about your posts rumple, amazing clarity , incredible information.
kudos 2 u. My question on the ez is there doesn't seem to be a drian of for the water accumulating in the tub. It appears the water is pumped into the misting apparatus. would really enjoy your input Frankly in the great white north (its cold) |

The water in the cloner circulates. You fill it up with about 3 gallons of water (my unit), and it cycles the water over and over again. Some is lost by evaporation, but not enough to make a difference.

roots at last
well rumple, first I tried germinating in napkins, transfered to rock well cubes, one out of four is barely surviving. next I tried 3 directly into rock well cubes, after 3 days into nets with the orange pebbles, 2 that survived are sprouting roots out of the bottom of the net pots today, total time from start to roots is 7 days, I'm very encouraged.
Germinated in ph balance of 6.3, plain tap water, presoaked the cubes for 1 hour. I'm probably going to pay for this but my EC that I thought was 860 turned out to be 1050. theres 3 and 4 sets of new leaves on each of the rock well germinated plants. In spite of the cost of the 2 meters PH & EC, total cost in Toronto ON $195 a novice cant do without them. Tommorrow I'll start to make my bubblers as per your layout. I'm going to use three with one as a controller, with continuous circulation, all three the same level, one pump feeding one that one overflowing into the next. I tried to upload a few picks, it asked for a URL address & tht put a stop to that.???????? i FEEL LIKE A BOY AGAIN THAT JUST LEARNED ABOUT JERKEN OF FOR THE FIRST TIME ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I flush 10 to 14 days. I change the water out a few times while flushing as well.
