well despite the fact that this thread is fairly dead im going to throw in my pennies.

my first grow was under similar circumstances in the sense that i did tons of research and reading before i even thought about buying a light. Yes that does give you the knowledge to complete the grow but definitely actually going through the motions provided me with much more knowledge an better yields. after doing all my research i started with a carbon scrubbed air cooled 1000w hps under a 4x4 ebb and flow plus pumps timers mylar, t5s floros light mover blah blah and spent around 2k and that was my first grow but i looked at it as an investment opportunity... i mean who wants to go buy a bunch of bs that is just going to get tossed to the curb once they figure shit out? after gaining experience you can add on to your system and double, triple, or quadruple your results after you have perfected it on a smaller scale.

I do think alot of ppl on here are hating because he has the opportunity to do it big and do it right from the get go and not start a lil shit in the closet under a night light. however i do agree with other posters such as froggy in the sense that all this stuff is a lot to learn and calibrate at one time and you could very well be getting yourself in over your head.

with all that being said my advice would be to first to get the best lighting and lots of it because that will never go out of style. second i would say hold off on the hydro and at least get one soil under your belt to understand the growing cycle, ph, any problems blah blah, it will save a little money, give you some exp, and once its over you can just dump the soil in your yard or garden or whatever. third i would say hold off on co2 till the second grow, if for nothing else just so you can see what kind of difference it is actually making. lastly i would say to invest more money into a good veg op, such as t5s maybe an aerocloner and whatnot so that you can have a strong propetual harvest as well as have plenty of backups just in case you do fuck yourself the first time

in conclusion id say there is some good advice on this thread and some haters as well....take the advice to heart and shake the haters off...anger is jealousy's first form

Nothing replaces actual growing experience,BUT there are some ppl who have established themselves financially and $ just is not a problem(seems ALOT of ppl who do what we do are lazy and have not made the best choices in life to afford what he is doing or is young and has not had the chance..yet).

With enough reading and research an even slightly educated person could put that system together very well.

I will say however that a nice bag and a week of price comparison could ct that price in half and soil is a good 1st grow medium choice,C02 should also wait till the 2nd grow and depending on your temps a co2 burner could be the way to go since you have the CAP ppm meter.

All you people nagging this guy need to check yourselves before commenting...

Expensive is probably one of the most relative terms.. The man probably works hard and has a good head on his shoulders. He invested the time in his business up front so he would have to listen to people who are "have nots" and are struggling becasue they were too lazy to get finanaces right up front.

Just makes me upset when i hear people talk down to someone when he isnt the one talking down to you...well he may have every reason too. You don't know him...

FMJ +rep man!! I don't usually participate in this type of discussion but i did nearly the same thing in the last 9 months and did VERY VERY well i may add,if your conditions are right it can easily be done if you don't have a major problem

i can't say anything negative about someone spending that much money. if i had enough to spend, i'd do the exact same. i'm tired of buying generic bread, i want the stuff that's wrapped twice!

don't hate the player, hate the game?

dude, comon. if u wanna blow 6k, buy some good weed or sumthing.

but the hardware u got for a newbie??? its insane.

u need to shop around and get a few grows under ur belt first.

my guess is that u could do the exact same grow for around 500$ and get better results.

u have over 1500$ for grow media when i can get u bags of pro mix for like 20$

lol, hey whatever, do what u think is best.

but let me relate the story.
i used to teach guitar way back when. more often than not, kids moms would buy them electric guitars, amps, peddles, special picks, everything a pro needs. but the only problem is that they were NOT pro's. they were WAY over their heads with equiptment and never worked on the real fundimentals that they needed, meaning they couldnt play the shit. they spent all their time fucking around with the equiptment and no time with the basics of actually learning the neuances of the guitar. hence, they never learned the guitar but just made noise. i think u are going down the same pathway.
Yeah...but you would you rather blow a couple hundred bucks on a pile of shit guitar and amp...and then have to upgrade a few months later when you can actually play?

Or would you rather instead learn to play on a nice guitar, which might not be as easy but will save you a few hundred bucks?

Usually I won't participate in this type of discussion either. But, Why are you people beating a dead horse? This guy is long gone from this thread. Let a dead thread be dead.

Can someone please quote me some real grow/construction info from this thread (if you can find any). It's all a bunch of people talking about the money. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Flood and Drain system if you have that much money to waste.

I saw a review of one in the Growguide 2008 high times issue. Very nice
