Sorry to hear about the deaths, i know this is a hard time for right now for you but it will be ok soon, a delivery of 10 Sweet Purple seeds will help the grieving process. LOL. Chin up lad! As for the heat problems your having, i think i could help. You said your fans running full whack an yet its still 37C in there, mine runs on its lowest setting an it keeps things cooler than a Polar Bears nads. Q:Have you drilled any cold air inlets somewhere low down in your cab? I drilled a 50mm hole into the floorboard and honestly the whole atmoshere in the cab changed an solved the same problems your having with temp an humidity. All the best. Spud |

| Back Thanks for your sympathy Spud. Well I’m back now up and running again and made a few changes along the way. Let’s bring you all up to speed. On Tuesday I ordered my Sweet Purple, which arrived on wensday.Wasnt around then so have only picked them up today. I’ve got hold of another closet as thought my other one was just too small, and after reading some info on Sweet Purple sounds like I might need the room. This morning I only put 2 seeds into germinate. I’m moving in mid August so if I have to sacrifice my grow if it is not over by then, then it’s no great loss (I say that now) Now this may sound stupid, but doing some reading on Sweet Purple and all are saying to start flowering her 7-10 days into veg.Is this correct?? And by “veg” is that meaning that I must change light cycle to 12\12, 7-10 days AFTER seedlings have broken the soil . This all sounds too quick to me, can someone please clear this up for me.Below some up to date pics, thanks for looking in. | Morning everyone. Just to give you an update. It’s been 4 days since I planted my seeds and there hasn’t been any show of them. So what I did as in my profession, was to carefully scrap back some layers of soil and came across my seeds. Both have a tape root and pointing in the right direction. I’ve now put them under my 125w CFL lighting about 12” away. I’m thinking that shouldn’t have done this and should have had a little more patience. Does anyone think I should cover them back up and leave, or do you think I should get away with this? Also should i put the cling film back over the pots to keep the humidity until the first leaves appear?

But anyway, you don't need to cover up the seeds again now, if they're growing as expected. might be better to put a thin layer of soil over the seed though to avoid exposing a root. As for cling film to keep the humidity up, well I never use it anyway so I can assure you you'll be fine without it. As for the lighting - you don't need 12" of clearance with CFLs. You can safely keep the seedlings 2 - 4" away from the flourescent bulb, although obviously until they crack the soil surface light distance is pretty much irrelevant.

| Update & Advice Needed Please Just a quick update and a little advice needed please. Both my babies shed their seeds shells today so I’m counting today a DAY 1 of veg.Now due to the early flowering of this strain and me having to move mid August I’m going to flower 10 days or so from now. What I would like some advice on please is currently I have 2 halves of 1.5 Litre plastic bottles over my new sprouts. The Temps are remaining at a constant 26.7 degrees and humidity at 85% inside the domes. My 125w CFL light is about 10inch above the plants. Will this be ok or should I now remove the domes. Comments and advice hugely appreciated. Domes.JPG Plant 1.JPG Plant 2.JPG

just thought i would update before i go away for the weekend.Plants are now 3 days old and doing really well. They were stretching a little so moved the light closer and add a wee bit of soil for support around the steam.Next Wensday i think I'm going to change the lighting to 400w HPS and let nature take it's course. plant 1- 3days old.JPG plant 2- days old.JPG

hi all .Well it's been 9 days now since my babies sprouted and all is OK.To be honest i haven't done much apart from water when needed and change my light over to a 400w hps and light cycle to 18/6 from 24/24 and thats it.The temps are remaining 32C lights on & 23C lights off.I know these temps are a bit high but thats the best i can do for now, anyways the plants look happy so that makes me happy .Pics below are from about 30 min ago, let me know what you thinkplant1 10 days old.JPG plant2 10days old.JPG

looks good. you took the domes off right? if not, you should. leaving them in the domes too long will make it more difficult to adjust them to lower levels of humidity later, so it's best to just not use any kind of greenhouse-like thing like that unless you'd be able to do it all the way through the plants life. they seem to be developing just as they should. I don't think you should flower anywhere near as early as was recommended to you... you may be able to, but you'll most likely get a very, very small yield. oh, and if the temps are too high, you might want to try running 18/6 and leave the lights off during the hottest part of the day. that's what I have to where I live. mine are sleeping right now. haha. from 12 noon to 6 PM I have the lights off, and when I eventually switch to flowering the lights will be off from 6 AM to 6PM.

Thanks TheFxckingHero, yeah took domes off on Monday and plants just came into their own.The flowing stage mmmmmmmmm not to sure yet .Tomorrow would make it day 10, time to flower so the packet says and so many other sites that Ive been looking at.My other problem in my move in mid August, i dont want the risk of having them in full flower while moving. But as they are looking so good i think I'm going to start flower next sat, and just get what i can from it.

Okay, well a few things to consider. You won't want to be moving your plants with your house - you need to get them sorted before then. You can't leave them in veg until mid August (they'd be huge!), and in full flower the plants will be too delicate and too smelly to move. You have to get them done before you go. First, you will want to give them at least 8 weeks to flower. Ideally you would want to let them dry afterwards (a week or so), but you can always chop them up into colas and transport them wet in air tight boxes or whatever. Second, your plants are not ready for flowering yet. For me, they would want another week at least before I would even consider it even if I were going for small plants. They're still seedlings... What I would do if I were you, look at your calander and work back 8 or maybe 9 weeks from when you have to leave, and pick that as your flowering date.

Thanks for the advice AF, following your suggestions that means i will need to start flowing this weekend(17 days old) meaning that will give them 8-9 weeks flowering.3 days ago i watered with a little nut which the plants really seemed to have liked, producing really great growth.I know flowing this weekend is going to seem early but all I'm concentrating on is not letting them die and to get a little something by the end of it, once i move i can really start getting my hands dirty. How long after changing light cycle should i start to see any sexing?Last weekend i planted 4 seeds out doors, so will be checking on them this weekend, if all is good i will start a new thread for outdoors.Below are some up to date pics from this morning, let me know what you think. plant 1 top.JPG plant 1 side.JPG Plant 2 15days old.JPG Plant 2 side.JPG

Well, when i first came here, I was under the impression plants show their sex like a day or two into 12/12...boy was i wrong. It took me 8 days to confirm the gender of my plants. After switching to 12/12 it took 4-5 days to see preflowers on a plant with a microscope or some kind of magnifying device. If you wanna distinguish sex by eye an additional 2-3 days is required. Make a note that males seem to show signs first. If you see preflowers by 3-4 days of 12/12, odds are it's a male. Let it grow a few more days and you'll be able to tell for sure. Oh and remember, flowering begins when you see the preflowers/first signs of sex, not when you swtich to 12/12. Good luck. |

Well guys you wont believe what has just happened and all down to my own stupidity. My landlords maintenance guy had to come over and get access to the cellar to do some emergency work.Half an hour before i opened my closet door to help with temps and forgot all about it.Now when the guy came in he walked straight past the open closet, light beaming and fan on full.Luckily my curtain of myler was up so it didn't look as obvious, but still! That was about 2 hours ago.Since then I've had to move the 2 plants to a secure outdoor location which i think i will leave for about 24-48 hours. If anything is going to happen it going to be within that time.On my way back i bought some fully grown orchids and placed those under the lights, so if PC plod does turn up i can explain the situation and the equipment. And worst of all i only had a spliff about half hour before the guy showed up, so as you can imagine thoughts running wild and pulse rate high.Keep fingers crossed everyone i may be in for a rough ride.Must go, need to clean my hard drive now.

Hi all.Everything is fine, brought my plants back late sat night. think i was a little over paranoid. Now for those who have been following i have had to put these babies into flower earlier than usual, believe me i would love to see these babies veg a week to two longer but i have no choice. The plants are now starting to get busher and busher and have a great smell when you get up close. Plant 1 is 7" tall and Plant 2 is 6" tall.Does earlier indication in taller hight mean a poss male or have i got that the wrong way round??
