That poor little thing looks burned.

Either it's 'normal' temperature burn, from being too close to the light in a hot environment, or it's nutrient burn - from too high a concentration of nutrients.

If I were you I would keep the plant out of bright light for a while (say a day or two), flush it with pure water, and leave it alone for a little while to heal.

Also - I did my latest grow intending to leave them under 24/0 light during veg (the '10% extra bud' high-times comparrison article was the main impetus), but I found that my plants really picked up after a short spell in the dark, so I settled on a 22/2 light cycle.

Lights.

could this disaster be down to my lighting?I'm only growing 1 plant and in hindsight a 400w HPS may be to much for her.Would a CFL be more suitable for the first weeks or until a least flowering time then change back to the HPS

Thanks

Thanks for the advise arseface, just flushed her with 3 liters of water and Ph was exact 6.0.I do think allot of this has do do with the amount of light this poor thing has been exposed to, so I'm thinking maybe tomorrow to pick a CFL light and start to use that for a while after she has picked up.Getting pissed now as I've already spent a small fortune.
Let me know what you think guys.

Well, I usually use CFL for the first week or so. But if you give enough clearance with the HPS (2ft at least for a 400W for the first week or so) that should work well.

If you're going to spend any more money, I'd get some more seeds if you can. Better to plant a couple more and pick the best females to flower than to put all your eggs in one basket.

I know it sucks now spending all the money, but your going to love it in the long run. Your first grow is always going to have little problems like this, its normal. You will have more fun during your next grow.

Uh yeah you probably should of had her under a flouresent light for the first few weeks. You don't need the HPS until its time to flower. I think its a waist of money to run a hps while vegging.

Yeah and you probably should of started like 6 plants.

Thanks for the support everyone.Just put 2 more seeds into germination that i had put away. For any newbie like me looking in on this thread i recommend that you check out Stlyez1877 thread on germination, very good.I've used a container that you get from a Chinese fast food place and some toilet paper, soaked with a little water, sealed and now put in a dark warm area. Will be checking in on them every now and then to see how quick this little experiment works.Tell me if Ive done anything wrong from the pics.

Been shopping,again!

Well I'm back after yet again another shopping trip .Because of the problems Ive been having i thought it would be best to get myself some CFL lighting and see if that helps in any way, if not, well it will always come in handy later on.Does anyone think it would be OK to stick my plant back under again or is it to soon?
I got myself a 125w blue spec bulb along with a euro reflector as the guy in the shop did a deal for me, and I'm not one to turn down a bargain.
My seeds that i put in to germinate still have not shown signs of of a tap root, not too worried about that at the moment.Let me know what you think.

Stick the plant back under the CFL it'll be fine - there should be verey little heat stress from that. You won't need to worry about clearance either - you'll want that CFL only something like 2 or 3" away from the bulb.

edit - nevermind I see now you got a reflector as well

As for the seeds, give them a bit longer. Sometimes they can take a couple of days to pop. What's the temperature around there? Sometimes seeds germinate faster with a higher temperature - maybe in the 80s. I like to keep mine near the radiators...

New Born

Good news We have a birth.Of the 2 seeds that i put in to germinate at 4pm yesterday, 1 had popped open when i checked on it at 9pm today, so that means 29 hours.Quite impressed with myself .I've now put it soil(a little under the surface) and covered the pot with cling film. She's now lying nice under my new CFL light.Lets see where she will be by morning.I'm hoping the other seed would have popped by morning.
Bellow pics of the birth and it's new home.

Morning everyone.Just a quick question as I'm a little concerned now.My seedling has now been in soil for a day now but it seems to be struggling to shed it's shell, is there anything that i can do to help it along?

I had one this time round that still had the shell attached as the leaves broke the surface. If you look it shouldn't be actually attached to anything, so you can just pull it off. Be very careful, and split the seed husk in 2 - it should just fall away.

Well guys I'm sorry to inform that i have now stopped my grow as i think i have killed what there was of my plants. But on the upside i have just ordered 10 seeds of Sweet Purple. So I'm going to be signing out for a while till i get things up and running again. Will keep all updated.
P.s. Does anyone have experience with this strain and if so do you have any tips, as I've read that you have to start to flower 7-10 days into veg.
Thanks for watching
