3 days in into my 2nd soil grow (the ghetto grow v2)

first one was a waste of a plant due to its upbringing but no matter about that one. this one is also a bagseed germinated in paper towels and then transferred to a dixie cup. pic of setup is below, real simple rubbermaid type container covered in tin foil on the inside, only there to keep the light in i know it doesnt reflect and i need mylar or potato chip bags. anyways only current light is a 20w 24'' flo. im just using this for about a week here and a week from sunday i'll have a hydrofarm 250hps for em.

germination was finished and put into soil 1/24, 1st pic is on that day. the one popped up out of the soil on 1/26. last pic is today (1/27). soil is a wal mart generic with some wal mart compost stuff mixed in. light is on 24/0 and temp stays right around 80~82, with humidity at about 45-50%. the fan just went on the first one today (too soon?)

guide me in the ways of growing as i am still basically completely new to this.

if this one goes well then i'm going to order some good seeds and get a hydroponic setup going along side of soil. also one last thing...i was told clones are always female- is this true?

hey bro, interesting setup. Couple comments, is that the shiney side of the tinfoil that is pointing inwards (dullside against the box??) If so, expect burns and hot spots. Secondly, what is the lumen and wattage output of your lamps. I ran into the same problem with my stealth with lack of lights, but DierWolf lead me in the right direction and now i am running 2 floro bulbs that emit close to a combined 1800 lumens...not bad for a grow-op in a couple 24s lol (check it out with the link in my signature)

looks good man, best of luck. I had my fan on since the first day, but then again, i was rather paranoid about the heat in the box...so the fan really helped.

Good luck!

FLEX

Very smart move with the soil choice. you should do ok.

The oompost will help you immensly, as it degrades it creates Nitrogen and Co2 and not to mention the multitude of nutrients.

Keep us posted.

Never mind.... i looked at the huge picture only... which your dixie cup looked like a pot but its not.

Leave the soil as is....

Things to do and watch out for.

1. Do not over water... let it get dry and then water just a little.
2. make sure the dixie cup has holes on the outside bottom edge of the cup (1/4 inch holes)
3. Monitor those holes for roots coming out, as soon as you see a root, transplant it into a 6 inch pot, with same soil mixture your using.

Repeat steps for 6 inch pot and all future pots.... I will leave you just let this one grow
on its own, on your next go around you can get into fimming/topping and other things.

As for your foil... for now its ok, but when you get your real light, it may cause problems.

Its not that you cant use the shiny side, only if you do, try to get as little wrinkles as possible.. I use it all of the time and i dont have any problems.. Just keep it as wrinkle free as possible.

honestly if u told me to stare at them with a pillow on my head singing christmas carols i probably would...just from seeing your seemingly endless amount of knowledge and from the pics you've posted all over i really trust your opinion on how to make this little diddy thrive. tonight i'm heading to the ER in hopes to get rid of whatever sickness i have but hopefully tomorrow or monday i can go ahead and get some better lighting in there and germinate a few more seeds since the one doesnt seem to want to come out of the soil
