New grow/My journal

Here are my three babies. Those lights are 6 - 23 watt cfl's. I know I need some sort of reflector. I dont have room or ventalization for an hps light. . Just now sure how Im gonna set it up yet. Im using the standard miracle grow potting soil.

One problem that I am having is that the plants seem to have stopped growing over the last week. They havnt got any wider or taller. I am not sure why.

I have been watering them with bottled drinking water. I was watering every then read all the faq's and now am watering every 3 days.

your Soil is not the best for seeds, but it may be to wet,the pots are kind of big for such small plants....

Whats your temp? the soil may be cold...

thanks for the reply. I dont know my soil temp. I dont have a thermometer. I will get one. But I think the soil temp seems to be about room temp.

I think i did over water plant 1 and maybe slighty overwater plant 2. should I change the soil?

the soil temp is around 80F

And I started with bigger pots so I wouldnt have to transplant later.

Should I have started with smallers pots?

Ok as I said before my plants were starting to get a little yellow, well now they are basically fried. only the top leaves are left that are still alive. After doing some research and PH testing(PH is normal), I have come to the conclusion that the miracle grow plant food that has time release ferts in it burned the plants to near DEATH. I have since transferred the plants into smaller pots and with regular organic soil. One of them looks like it's starting to get a little greener.

Should I continue with these plants and try to revive them or should I scrap them and start from scratch? Are they revivable after severe fert burn??

Oh Yeah..... Miracle grow is not good for MJ plants...lol

every grow guide out there says NO MIRACLE GROW, but oh well live and learn.

Yes, keep trying with those plants. Who knows, they might pull through. If they are going to die, it will be soon, so you won't be wasting a lot of extra time.

And to re-iterate what youve learned, ferts burn young plants! Only an extremely diluted formula of some basic nute mix can be applied, but you should wait until they are fully revived and have several new sets of leaves.

interesting grow, now, could the stunting of the growth come from the lights being too far away from the plants?? Good luck on your next grow!!

I think i'm going to start counting the Failures caused by Miricle grow and potting soil alone in general.

Your #2. I espect a few more coming, as runts due to crappy potting soil seems to be running rampant on this forum, and no one seems to heed my warnings.

Please see Rolla311's thread, last page.

HIGH All, you know how many times I've said deep six the MG soils...AND some grow out and get those Fertilizer stakes...another BIG no no. Anything with time released ferts are no good for growing indoors.

I used MG 2 grows ago but never used time released...
I was told by a good grower/friend that you need to flush the soil(MG) befor you use it...ferts are to strong and add more perlight
I did it and never had a prob....grew some nice bubble gum
So i guess im off the list but i much rather use foxfarm soil...
