Marihemp's Beauties
This is not my first grow. I had a very unnsuccessful grow about 2 years ago. A lot has changed since then, including my location and set up. Let me be clear. This is not the set up I want. This is the setup I can afford. So, any changes are made with $$ in mind!
I started from EXCELLENT bagseed, big fat brown seeds that germinated in 2 days or less. One plant germinated in 24 hours. I germinate my seeds in a wet papertowel inside of a zip sandwhich bag in a warm location. Once my seeds cracked they went into a small pot of growing medium. Halfway through my grow I switched to clear plastic containers with holes poked in the bottom. I put my lids underneath as a drip pan to catch any water. I can see where the roots are in the clear plastic container so I know when it's time to transplant to something larger.
Because my first seeds got a slow start, the plants are not as big as they should be, but the younger ones are catching up fast. I have them surrounded by big pieces of cardboard covered in aluminum foil. I even have a piece of aluminum covered cardboard folded over the top of my light and there is another beneath the plants, so 360 degree reflection. This has greatly increased growth due to the inadequate lighting.
For my lighting I was using grow lights to start but quickly switched to a UVA/UVB terra light. I understand it's not what is recommend and is probably insufficient for a truly quality grow, but until I can actually invest in something better, it's what I've got to work with. I have a second light fixture I'm going to rig up in the next week for added light.
Everything is tucked away in a secret room in my basement. Because my basement is NOT heated (and thankfully secluded) I have a small space heater inside. The space heater is set to between 74 & 76 degrees so my room is a constant 72. My plants are on the floor, so their roots don't get cold, I put a layer of cardboard on the floor and on top of that a big piece of carpet and on top of that, the cardboard with the aluminum foil. I wanted to insulate good, keep my roots warm to continue to grow instead of hibernate. Plants automatically go into a hibernative state if the roots aren't kept warm enough.
I water only when I need to. I'm waiting for my worm casting to start my heavy fertilizing. I've been lightly fertilizing every other week or so with a home made concoction until I can get a more potent fertilizer. My water sits for 24 hours at room temperature so the floride and other additives have a chance to evaporate. My ph is great! My plants are nice and compact with minimal stretching... thank God!
If you've actually read all that... can anyone help me identify what exactly it is that I am growing. I have three distict strains that I am growing. The babies are too immature to tell right now, but the other two are easier to identify.
