first indoor grow!!

so i just have got everything together... i have a 250 watt HPS complete system hanging in a 5x3 closet. I order 6 Blue Thunder seeds from Reefermanseeds. As soon as they arrive i germinate and begin with the beautiful pics... can't wait till we start guessing to see how much i'll get. this is my first indoor grow so if anyone has any pointers throw them out... i have read all my grow threads and feel very confident in myself. I had a great summer with outdoor so here goes.

You going to grow in soil indoors? If so, do you have a mix perfected from outdoor growing or going with a store bought mix? So many questions.

Lucian: actually I really would like to know what would be the best idea for indoor dirt. I used store bought this year for outdoor and I would say that I def. do not have any idea for the ideal grow media. May I ask your personal preference? I guess I will go ahead and tell all the other planned details to find out how far off I am or on! thanks again

I have two small fans one and the bottom pulling in and one at top on other side pulling out.(detailed pics later) I painted the entire closet flat white. I plan to start the seeds after germination with 2 4ft. floros (any height suggestion, though 24/7 timing) for about 1 week. I bought the Mother Earth 100% organic grow and bloom super tea! other than that I am only worried about getting CO2 in the room more....b/c i can't get a tank so thats out of the question for the newbie grow def. later though.

well, getting CO2 in there isnt extremely hard, you could have a baking soda and vinegar solution type thing, where you have a bowl of baking soda and have vinegar drip into it slowly, and that will produce CO2, although you cant control the amount of CO2 put out by it

alright out of the six seeds, 3 have popped and I hope the rest do too. I am starting them with 2 4 ft. 40watt flouro inches above, 24/7 lighting as of now. I am wondering when I should make the change to the HPS... is there a certain number of internodes I need to get? Also I need to know when the soonest I can top a plant to make it branch(what internode?), I plan on trying to tie down one of the plants and training it a good bit to see if it increases yield.

well, everything is going woderful... my little babies are doing awesome. I am getting ready very soon to make the switch to a 3 gal. pot. I have a thermostat. it record highs, lows and avg. high is 83 and low is 78. last night it dropped to 32 outside...my high and lows were 69.5 and 75. hope everything is going ok...

I am head strong on the organic method! espcially after this months cannabis culture and the article on " why most pot sucks" great article need to pick it up! nothing you can't learn here at the city from the repipudable members threads!!!

PICS TOMORROW. Finally i can starting puttin some pics up... as if now I have one Blue Thunder(3rdnode) and one Ak-47(4thnode) I plan on cloning the blue thunder twice and the ak once. I have recently begin to add a good bit of vinegar and bakingsoda together in the corner and a pale to produce some co2 at the begining of the light phase. PICS TOMORROW

Solved my temp problem...changed the dark time to durning the day everything great now!!

alright finally got some pics up...I believe that my babies are a little fert burnt from using store bought soil.... i am using plain nutes water untill then to get them back to great life.

also I am working on getting co2 installed in the grow room...so i can't wait

Wow, congrats on the progress. I myself prefer organic dirt growing and if you NEVER use chem ferts, you can resuse the soil with just adding a few cups of guano/meal/lime etc...

What kind of store bought soil are you using? slow release ferts will work (as you are noticing) but there are better brands. Sunshine mix #4 is prolly the best store brand followed by Promix. I used promix my first grow and it worked ok but the problem is it is peat based which makes the pH around 5.5 whereas Sunshine mix #4 (also peat based I think) is adjusted to a better pH. I also had to agonise for a few grows on what to do to get the best results when Walmart only sells liquid detergent colored miracle grow chem ferts but then I found a little closet sized hydro store by me run by alittle old lady and all is well for me.

Eventually, you want a 40 gal tub from walmart where you can store soil between grows, add 2-4 cups dolomite lime, Seabird and Bat Guano and a bag or two of worm casings and let it sit for 6 weeks and you will have AWESOME soil. There are lots of soil recipies on here so finding one isn't hard, just locating where to buy them is unfortunately the hardest part. Good Luck!

HI, THNKS Lucian. I used miracle grow slow release and ur right...it will work but not what I want in the future especially not for my clones either!!

WOW thanks for the soil mix... I will def. get to mix in a 40gal. as I already have one lying around(isn't it the horse troph size almost) its brand new so.

THNKS again. can't wait to update as ak is on day 20 and bluethunder on day 18. everything is looking great but i am def. noticing yellow spotting on the first true leaves and starting on the second 3 leaf set a small bit... I hope it pulls through and the ferts slowly flush them self out so i can start adding my organic ferts...also when would you suggest I start organic fert..and what kind of mix you think...it says 1-3 tbsp. per gallon I believe... I will check and update later thanks for the info.
