Just came home from work a few mins ago, turned on the telly to see some irish guy jumping on the brazilian marathon runner at the olympics? WTF!
I thought i could'nt be more suprised than i already was, until i checked on barnaby! Colour is healthy and the brown specks havent spread since the start, but it just doesnt look right to me! It has very slight abnormalities, it has almost outgrown its new pot already in like 3/4 days but didnt grow more than an inch or 2 in height, and on the plus side has a very thick strong stem and branches! It seemed to grow more when i moved it further from the light than like an inch away? im so confused lol

I definitely think most of my problems started with using that soil, cos i have an awful feeling it might of been for acid-loving plants!

Im off in town looking for new supplies!

hows it cwl.......i take it your from scotland then?????i was born in england now im living in NZ with scotish,irish and english blood......hows that for a mix??.....
anyway to your problem get your self some perlite and vermiculite or at least one of the two......and mix it what ever your using as your medium........fuck sorry toooooo stoned too spell propoerly...

Na, im irish m8!

Funny u said that bout the perlite & vermiculite actually, cos today i went shopping and got some 4" pots, 2 small fans and some soil!
The soil is worrying me though.Its miracle grow seed & potting soil with added vermiculite & Perlite.I hope its not too rich for my seedlings, ill just have to test it out i suppose.If it is too rich then im gonna try and flush/dilute the nutes from the soil, Im looking for good soil texture but i dont wanna overfert my seedlings either.If this doesnt work out then ill have to take a trip out to a gardening centre for my supplies!

Ill keep ye updated!

So heres the update!
Barnaby (white rhino) is almost 15 days old now and is still going lol.
I think my ph problem is coming back to haunt me now cos those brown spots on the 2 lower leaves seem to be spreading to the rest of the leaf.
The 2 lower leaves themselves seem to be distorted/disfigured and generally dont look too great to me.The roots are starting to grow from underneath the pot as well already, so i guess its ready to be re-potted!
Im gonna use the miracle grow soil when i repot,Since its rich in nutes it would probably kill seedlings but im guessing that barnaby should be able to handle it, since its fairly well established by now!
Any comments/suggestions welcome!
Ill post pics later this evening!

if your not ferting i cant see why youve got ph probs.....

have you got something to test your soil with too see what the ph is???

get your self some epsom salts or some dolomite lime.......add a little next time you water........may be hold of a little befor you repot you want a good root ball......the roots are a very important part of the plant treat them like buds.......laters

No im not ferting yet, I think the soil i used was acidic from the start and caused my problems all along! I Tested my water with ph strips and it was 7 even so i can rule that out, I tried to use a strip to test the soil but the results are hard to judge,Im gonna wait till the next watering and ill test the water that comes out the end of the pot to see if that works better!
Im gonna get a proper ph meter of some sort in the next week or 2 to make sure.Im gonna pick up some epsom salts and try it out to see if that fixes it,ill keep ye posted!

I just checked on it a few mins ago and the soil was fairly dry and the plant grew into the lights,The joys of working the night shift

I gave it a good soaking and i took a ph test but im still working out the results lol, ill check on it later and see how its doing since i watered it.Thanx for confirming the repot NaughtyDread, Im amazed how big these plants roots are and they grow so quickly! I have 1 pot left that im hoping will take me all the way to harvest, its over a foot tall and wide at the top and narrows to the end.Would this do ya think till harvest?
I forgot to mention that i gave up my room to my brothers girlfriend, she needed a place to stay while she was finding a place of her own, I couldnt check on it during the night like i usually do whick suxx! Its all sorted now cos she found a place and should be movin out next week!

Not that i dont like her or anything, but im on a mission lol,
I hate sleeping on the couch too
