| This hydros for you, 2nd grow. T44
Hey guys and gals, new to this hydro thing so im gonna need some help along the way, thanks in advance. Currenlty: Genetics: T44 nirvana eight seeds in rockwool and HT just showing roots at the bottom three inch net pots. Light: 400 hps econo , cooltube , with 265 fan for cooling. Foor foot flouros, cfl's , and a 65 watt flouro in a diy fan cooled hood. Hydro set up: Well this has been a tough decision, still not sure what the final product will be, currently seeds are vegin under flouros in a diy tub, not extermely happy with it, requires a lot of hand watering due to poor design. Was thinking of a bio bucket system or e n f. I have two air pumps, stones, diffusers, two eco water pumps and some misters. Two Hannah ph meters, a Hannah tds Ph up and down, Gh flora nutes. Back up: I have grown in soil once before and got a decent harvest out of some bagseed which I saved, so I have three in soil just in case. I am going to build my cabinet this week to house this operation, now it sits in the open. I will try to post pics of this, and the building, soon. Just popping out of the rockwool, about a week ago. 100_3218.jpg 100_3220.jpg and in the soil 100_3221.jpg After a week, had some problems with under watering, two died out of ten, and some light burn/nute burn. 100_3242.jpg Now the soil girls 100_3241.jpg thats a tomatoe clone btw just for practice a view of my custom cfl lamp 100_3250.jpg and my #4 bagseed 100_3248.jpg Ph wasnt always stable, now its better, right about 5.8. Hope the rest turn out well, that one is one I have written off as dead but it seems to be growing, I try not to kill anything thats living and it seems to be alive. |

hey man, the hydro babies should not have been nuted yet, get those cubes covered bu the hydroton, Im assuming you have water and a air stone in that tub, if you do keep the water right at the bottom of the net cups, do that and change water to just distelled right now and you wont reconize them in a week, then start the nutes 25%. that bubbler should grow them real well, even with all the duct tape... ![]() good luck buddy |

There is actually foam insulation under that, thought it might help with rez temps. Underneath the lid i have a pump spraying with misters hitting all the net cups, just didnt do well until roots popped out. What do you mean about covers? So no nutes at all? Im running 1/8 strength, i think 300 ppm or so. |

when you give them 1-2 weeks of distelled water they have a chance to build a nice root structure that enables them to uptake the nutrients, you would be amazed how good seedlings can grow the first two weeks with just distelled water, you dont even have to mess with ph that way. just keep temps of res in check and all is well. does your ph drop everyday? if the answer is yes they are locked out, clean ur res then after 5-7 days of disteled water start the 1/8 mix they will spring back to life. your aero set up should make them grow like hell.. ur on the right track man, just a slight bump in the road. hydro is great once you get to know it and it also can go to shit quick so stay on your ph 5.8-6.0 is safe 5.8 optimal.. hope this helps buddy i love hydro and would try to help anyone learning it |

Thanks Budslinger, gonna flush today then add distilled. I am hoping these go well, I have some better beans just waiting...WR and NL .Thinking of doing a flood and drain setup on my flower, what do you think. I see you grow that way. Do the roots have enough room in your net pots? Or do they grow out the bottom? |

they grow out thats why i have hydroton in the main tub, i started with a drip system like mjboy, but found that was just a pain in the ass, so i went flood and drain..Now i have a bubbler i veg them in right in the 5" net pots that way at harvest i just rinse the system and put the new girls in dont even loose a day. That was a good idea saving your good beans, your set up should work for the babies real well just easy on the nutes fisrt couple weeks.. |

Has anyone ever tried aero buckets? I was thinking of three or four buckets with a couple of misters and a drain on the bottom of each bucket going to one resivoir. Laying out my cabinet, trying to decide on how to run this. I know I wont get eight females hoping for four or three would do. Do the misters get clogged with roots? Thanks again Budslinger for your patience, checked the girls today and new leafsets on three plants the others are bouncing back just slower. |

no problem buds.. ![]() ive heard that the sprayers tend to clog over time when you least expect it, again ive never tried it. seems like the same theory as a bubbler eventually the roots will sit in the water so why mess with all the sprayers. imo anyway..lol |

Thanks Mjboy, I had hoped five...guessing 50 / 50 male female ratio. I planted ten beans and they all germed!! but I killed one of them and another is very close to dead but regenerating and growing new leafsets, sortof, lol. Now with eight viable plants hopefully four girls. One of which will be a mother popping out 44 day flower clones all the time!! Ill clone em all and keep the best producer. Hopefully by christmas ill be on to my next strain or two!I am building a cabinet to hold four buckets and one other tub( the wifes tomatoes) for flowering, vegging might stay where I have it now. How is the new purple strain coming, are you gonna call it barny widow? Black velvet would be cool, black for widow(like the spider) and velvet for purple? |

My thought would be the bucket would normally be dry or moist, but no real solution for the roots to sit in, it would be constantly draining back to the res. Aeroponics vs Hydroponics. Just thought buckets would hold more roots than a four inch pipe, or a typical diy aero setup. I could be wrong. Im smoked and i have been reading everybodys threads and bibles and grow guides for what seems like ever and it all gets a lil blurry... I tenfd to learn best from exp. so thats why I decided to just get my hands wet | |

Update: girls are doin better, having some trouble with my ph meter, gonna buy a new electrode soon. Even with two meters I have to use drops , sux. PH is about tough to get a for sure number. How much down do you guys usually use per gallon? My tap comes out at around 7. Trying to get this dialed in. How do you guys calibrate? Well here goes veg tub 100_3254.jpg side shot 100_3255.jpg some roots 100_3257.jpg 100_3258.jpg my seeds 100_3252.jpg The diy aero garden, gots my girls herbs. 100_3261.jpg |

looks good and in order to calibrate it you need calibrate solution at 4.0 PH and 7.0PH. this will help you get right on the money with your PH issue.
