| My first time!! would love feedback
Hello there... I'm starting this about a month into the grow but i have atleast a few pictures from before. I bought this system from someone on craigslist and he told me that it was an ebb and flow. I am very new and didn't question it but came to relize its kinda of an aeroponic system with a resevior that the roots evenutally suspend into. It also came with what i beleive is two 40 watt florecent lights fixture, bc product, chem. to bring the ph up or down along with a ph tester, clay balls, and seed pods. Since this is my first time starting from seed i decided not to go and buy any seeds that i could very well just end up messing up. So i just picked a bunch out of my collection that has been building up for a while that i really thought i would do nothing with and put them into a wet paper towel on a plate to start the germenation process. After a couple of days a few started to sprout roots and at that point i put the best looking one into one of the seed pods that came with the setup. At this point i also had my setup ready to go and put the pod into the clay balls in the net pot and turned everything on. It all worked as far as i can tell because again.. i am very new at this. For the first 4 days i left the lights on 24 hrs a day becuase i'm pretty sure i read somewhere to do that. After that i cut it down to 18 hours per day. first.jpgfirst picture.jpg this is about 1 to 1.5 weeks into the grow mid.jpgmiddle.jpgmidd.jpg this is when i start getting a little problem but i wasn't seeing it once it got to the next set of leaves that it don't have pictures of. The tips of these leaves are curling a bit but that was the only problem i could find wilt light.jpg This is when the real problem i think started and it is where I am currently. About one month into the grow my baby starts to wilt and i can't figure out why. i have done research and maybe i'm an idoit but i can't figure it out. With the lights are on the leaves raise up and gain some pep which makes me think i don't have a good enough light but im not sure. wilt no light.jpg This is what it looks like when the light is off... If it weren't for the hanges those leaves would be hitting the platform it sits on. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know. Well thats it for now i'm going to keep updating this thread to the finish. Next time hopefully will be even better. |

what do you feed them? if you have floros the easiest way to grow is use floranova bloom at about 650 - 750 ppm in your system its hard to grow hydro without knowing ppm (parts per million) of the nutes as well as the ph and temps are REALLY important 67F or 20C is what you should shoot for for res temp and high 5's for ph (5.8 or so, ymmv) and floranova bloom is good for both veg and bloom I like it because it's ONE bottle of food and ph down to run a complete cycle from veg to flower no matter if it's hydro soil, or whatever |
| Chaotic | For Starters Good start not to bad for 1st time. I recommend that you google marijuana grow guides and read the faq from this forum site. Read, read, read, it will be the most important thing besides getting the experience. Even if it doesnt pertain to your specific grow, there is never enough knowledge to know. All plants, not wilt, but droop down at night cause there is no light to make them perk up. An hour after my lights come on all my plants always raise up by an inch or two. Now it def looks like your plant needs more light. What kind of lights are ya using exactly, ie wattage, type of light such as floroucent tube, CFL(spiral looking light bulb ect.) Then we have to move on to nutes, Using any or no? At week 2-3 ya wanna start giving some nutes and stay away from everything miracle grow its all crap not designed for Cannabis. It's better to use no nutes than miracle grow.Hopefully that a good start, later.

I appreciate the quick responce all.. i use the bc products and i am combining boost and grow right now.. i thought the ph level should be somewhere around 6.5 but looks like i was wrong about that so ill be taking that down as soon as i get home.. as for the lights i think i'm going to make a trip to home depot and pick me up some of the spiral lights or should i pick something else. Also i am using two 40 watt florecent tubes right now

i'm only growing the one right now. i wanted to make sure that i had at least the basics down one plant which is just a seed from my bag so not much loss if i mess up. Next time i might move to 4 or 6. I just live in an apartment so i gotta be careful because i hear the smell is rather strong

lowes has 64 watt cfl's? 6500k? they screw into a normal base? would they fit into an 8" clamp light? |
| Chaotic | 64 Watt CFL's They fit into any reg light socket, and as I said before, full spectrum. There is no kelvin rating, plus resent studies have shown that kelvin really has nothin to do with flowering. I have flowered with both supposedly different kelvin ratings and get the same results. The pics below are of a 40 watt CFL next to the 64 watt cfl that puts out less/equal heat

So i made a run to lowes and couldn't find any 64 watt cfls so i bought 2 40 watt and i figured i would just leave the two 40 watt floro tubes up there. Here is a pic of the new setup DSCN0337.JPG the only thing is that i think that it still is more droopy than it should be. as i look at everyone elses grow they don't have a problem with the leaves hitting the ground. mine do unless i prop them up. Is this a normal thing or something i should be worried about? DSCN0338.JPGDSCN0339.JPGDSCN0340.JPG please feel free to tell me what you think omg!!! i just was checking the ph and noticed it to be to high.. i lowered it... way too much and i just brought it back to normal but the all of the branches arn't able to hold their weight.. is this just a shock!?? or did i burn the roots... please help even the new leaves coming out are getting effected Last edited by grassman0420; 09-09-2008 at 04:33 AM. | |

| When should i start flowering her?
I'm about a month into the grow and she is starting to have a nice smell to her. my question is whether or not i should start on the 12/12 cycle or just keep her in veg longer. I have no time constraints so i don't mind waiting a while to put her into flowering. i just don't know if there is a point where you wait too long or too short. If i could get some input it would be awesome Pictures from tonight after shes had the lights on her for a bit. DSCN0341.JPGDSCN0342.JPG |

Depends on your height restrictions. In 12/12 they will stretch to double or even triple their size. good luck
