Flowering starts when you throw them into the flowering light cycle in my opinion! And flowering a week too long is better than flowering a week less in my books. Indicas usually flower 7-9 weeks and some sativas can flower up to 12 weeks!

I look at several things: Wait for the majority of your resin to become cloudy. Once you're there, watch for a change in the appearance of the bud. The calyxes will plump up, and the trichomes will start to glisten. If you wait until most of your trichs are milky/cloudy and a few have begun to turn amber you should be at the right time to cut em. Another general rule of thumb is to wait for 50-80% of the pistils to darken (red or brown normally). Do you have a microscope of any kind? It looks like your camera is high quality enough to just take Macro Shots and review them via zoom on your computer (Works for me!).

Also, I've stood by this technique for a while! 24-48 hours BEFORE you crop, give them NOTHING but pitch dark! Shut off all the lights for a day or two and I swear you'll notice a boost in trich formations!

Be sure to offer thanks to the plants before you crop as well!

Welp my lights are on, and i just cant help but to snap some pics cause its just Oh So Fun for me. I also made a little video today that im going to post.

It needs a signifigant light leak to hermie the plant.

I've got a small keychain LED I used to peek at them for about 5-15 seconds when I wake up in the morning and don't wanna wait for my light cycle.

Never had a plant hermie on me!

Well my lazy ass finally got around to transplanting, and when i saw those roots boy was i glad i did. I think they may have even been kinda root bound, but the lights just came on, and it seems no shock whatsoever, so im a happy boy. Also the budsites are starting to form into more bud looking flowers, there are hairs popping out everwhere, and the smell is fantastic.
Its a hard smell to pinpoint, a mix of mint, skunk, and fruit....So im excited to see how that works out.
Any way im gonna post a nice update when i get off work.

(i forgot to scale down the images when i uploaded so there kinda big) Ive been practicing with my camera and can safely say i feel like im taking some sexy pics, tell me what you think. Here is an update 2 weeks into flowering cycle.

Hey man, I couldn't help but notice your plants look flawless and your buds are coming in beautifully. I guess those foil pans are cool to use after all. Also, count flowering days from the first day you saw a preflower, not from when you turned the lights. That's the proper way, not just an opinion. Keep it up.

The bananas are for the ethylene gas taht they produce when they are ripening. Rumor has it that the gas is supposed to influence for female characterisitcs upon the plant. Not to sure this has been proven, but alot of people swear by it. It's called the "banana religion"
