i dont think i've ever had a set of those first (i forgot what the're actually called) but i call the embrionic leaves not turn yellow and die, i wouldn't worry about that.

is the browning on all your leaves, of just the top ones? you should be fine with just those floros. they will grow it just fine, but you might want to throw those other lights on them again when they're a little further along.

the brown is on the very tips of the ridges of the leaves. we're talking .2-.4mm (like very thin mechanical pencil lead) worth on most of the little tips of the fan leaves.

the stronger plants first set is now making a ring they are wilted/bend/curled so much. but it still looks strong and healthy!? the 2nd set is comming in fast and it's a good light green color of fresh growth.

i'll take pics of them before i go to sleep tonight and when i wake up and throw thoes on here tomorrow.

the browning sounds like very slight nute burn, but again, without a pic, its hard to tell

and no problem, i love helping out any way I can. i've gotten a lot of help from others on this forum, and i'm just trying to spread the love around. just never forget, i'm still a noob to this, but i've read my ass off and know most of the basics.

so i've got some mixed news for everyone interested in my grow. i went out of town for Bonnaroo over the weekend. i left my plants wed afternoon and didn't see them til 4:20 on monday. my roomate was watching them for me and i told him to call me if he had any questions. everything was setup so he only had to water them and keep the soil moist

he .. for some reason that he can't explain .. decided to turn my fan to the lowest setting and move the temp/humidity meter out of the pots and to the floor about a foot away from the lights! my stronger sprout lived with minor burning on the leaves but it's looking good otherwise.

the weak one was dried up and the only green left was a tiny leaf that had started growing from the new set. :'( !!! i'm angry. but here is the redemption:

on wed. night after leaving my babies a friend of ours gave us 3 bagseed from some strain of purple headies.

also, while at the roo', i picked up 3 grams of Love Potion and snagged a healthy looking seed from that (it had been harvested just before the roo from the looks)! my fan/filter combo also arrived while i was gone.

so .. dark cloud with a silver lining. i'll get pictures going again tonight or tomorrow. got friends over right now.

the first set of leaves looks like that one does. it's not flat at all .. the curling is so much that the tip is touching the stem and pointing upwards.

the new leaf sets are looking nicer but they are curling like a hotdog a little bit. that might be because of the high temps from my out of town.

pics soon and we can figure this out.

edit: temps are .. 72 in the room. 78.2 in the box. 67% humidity.

i've got that stuff dialed in now. :P

Just to be safe I would hold off on nutes maybe 1 or 2 feedings. See what happens, your temps look good, whats your PH levels?

Sometimes i got deformed leaves in the begining of the veg. stage with my indica's but they all straitened out around the 5th or 6th node.

just be carefull your plants might be trying to tell you something...

i'm not using nutes yet. the little guys are in some MG organic soil npk .10-.05-.05. pH is always between 6.5 and 7. just have a simple tester that has a needle scale.

and this is the current growth. what are the 4 diagonal leaves? there is no yellowing as the picture makes it seem. the only discoloration is of the very tiny brown spots on the leaf tips from burning.

alright, other than a little nute burn, they are just a little deformed. they will normalize in time.
mine looked like this:

i think why they mutate could have a couple of reasons, probably mostly due to PH issues.

the 4 diagonal leaves are normal, they are the outer leaves of your first three-fingered leaves. it will became more apparent over the next week or two.

cool. quick update ..

temps are doing fine. staying around 78-79. humidity is always over 60%. at night with AC lower it gets to +/-70%. the air doesn't feel that wet to me though? trusting the meter on that one.

i'm worried about ventilation .. my fan/filter is nice. it should more than cover the smell of 2-4 plants but the door has always been cracked 2-4" so far in the grow. once i need to seal it up for smell i'm worried about temp. control. i'm starting to think about this because i just installed the first of the two intakes i had planned to put in (pics tonight). there is the possible option of venting some AC to an intake. any other ideas would be much appreciated!

last night marked week 2 since the germ'd seeds went into soil. i also put a fresh seed into soil last night (Love Potion). so currently i have

Plant 1: Generic Dank/Headie bagseed
Plant 2: Love Potion bagseed (thought the plant was cut only a few days before i found the seed. that shit wasn't dried or cured at all. :ugh: )

by the weekend I should also be starting 3 seeds of some strain of Purps bagseed. :thumbs:

I just noticed that GC offers seeds now! Has anyone looked into this? Seems like a good idea to me.

Love Potion in new DWC. Fogger being used til the roots hit water then it's going into a cloning bubbler I have waiting. My 3 bagseed of purps are sprouting just now. They should be standing up by tonight! Will picture when they're more attractive. :]

Basicaly my plans are this. I'm going to keep growing the LST'd bagseed plant until I can sex. If it's female I'll flower and smoke her if it's male he made for a great learning grow. I have 1 Love Potion and 3 Purps bagseeds growing right now. I'll be starting a 2nd log for them soon and probably stop updating about this plant and just keep tabs posted about it in the other thread.

Ok it's been a few days and I'm sober as a joke so I figured I'd update with the recent happenings .. not tired yet anyways.

So I started the Love potion in DWC. Added two of the purps to the bucket .. one of the seeds (named El Retardo) grew its taproot in a circle and ended up choking itself under the soil. I tried to replant the root but to no avail.

As for my main plant. Wellllll i'll let the pics do the talking just for now. It's been 4 days since I started to LST.

I'll be honest with you guys. I have been using 24/0 this whole time, until today I gave her 4 hours of dark. Turned the lights back on and it was like an explosion of growth ever since. Kinda like she took a nap and is in full swing again yea? I'll be using the 4 hours dark peroids from 2-6pm until flowering.

Once my proper hydro equipment get in I'll be starting the new journal for purps but I wanted to say this

Foggers are THE shit! The love potion spent overnight with the fogger on and there are now 6-8 new roots poking out half an inch. Deffinatly looking foreward to making some clones now!

Right. I've tended the plants between writing this. Off to sleep, good night GC.

OH RIGHT. 3rd pic, take a very close look at all the tips of all the leaves. alllll the tips.

yellow? i'm fearing some nute burn or possibly N deff.

it hasn't gotten worse but it showed up right after my last feeding .. it's worse on the tips of leaves not pictured
