First Grow - Hydro Set-Up PICS!!!

I am 14 days into my flowering cycle and have realized that my eyes must be going bad. I have tried to look and take pictures to see if I can sex the plants. I am posting some pics to see if anyone has any idea. Some of the pics suck, so I am not expecting much...but any help would be appreciated. They may not be mature enough yet to tell.

The odor isn't bad, surprisingly. You can still smell it a little throughout the house, but nothing like it was about 10 days ago. I am sure the stank will come once the buds start to develop. As of right now, I am not doing much for odor control. I have small air ionizer/fan set by the exhaust on the grow box and some odor control gel. I have heard that Northern Lights isn't too stinky, so for a first grow, this will be good. As my set-up develops with more grows, I am sure I will pick up some of the bells and whistles.

Please let me know if you can see hairs or bananas!

Whats your current oder control? Im thinking of getting a carbon filter sometime soon.

I wouldn't worry about the intial leaves being yellow...it's those little fan leaves that you need to worry about. My initial leaves eventually yellowed. Pay close attention to the fan leaves as they will tell you what is going on with your grow. It is inevitable that you will lose a couple of good leaves, but watch out for curling edges, spots, etc. There are some really good posts on GC to help identify nutrient issues.

I have fought nute burn and a magnesium deficiency (cured with epsom salts). I check on my babies several times a day so I can catch any issues that arise quickly.

This system seems very easy to get nutrient burn...I think because of the cheap nutes that they send out with it. Next grow I am going to get some good nutes that are ph balanced.

I will get a carbon filter on my next grow. I have some Mango seeds that I am sure will be a little stinkier than the NLs. The wife has been complaining a bit. Me...I kinda like the smell.

I forgot to mention on my last update....

As I posted earlier, I tried a little LST to see what would happen. It was amazing how quickly these turned to the sky after tieing them back! I tied 2 of the plants back and by the next day the main colas were pointed upwards making a right angle on the branch. I had no idea it would be that quick, effeective, and easy. I will definately do this from the start on my next grow.

My suggestion to anyone with this type of set-up is to either do LST right from the start or do a Screen of Green. It spreads out the canopy and allows more light down into the plants giving you more opportunity for bud sites. Although I am happy so far with my first grow, doing a few extra things from the beginning would probably increase yield.

Yikes! $200? I spent $40 + $50 on lighting for the exact setup.

Yes, I know the $200 was a little pricey for what you get, but I wanted to see what a Hydroponics Company considered as an all-inclusive kit. My kit came with:

Resevoir w/ 6 net pots (3")
Water Pump
Difuser to feed the 6 net pots
air stone
tubing
air pump
timers
rockwool cubes
hydroton
ph test kit
ph up
ph down
nutes for all cycles
2 large CFLs with reflectors
extension cords

All things considered, I happy with the purchase. It gives me the insight to be able to build these from scratch in the future and save money.

Good Day to all! My heard of six plants has been thinned to 3. Science has proven that the 50/50 ratio is accurate. I had 3 boys I had to get rid of. Two of them were my largest plants...I guess the good thing is that it has really opened up the grow box to get light into the remaining females.

Buds are starting to form very nicely...little hairy buds. Thanks to all who suggested LST. I have been doing this in the past week and it seems to be creating more bud sites.

I am about 3 weeks into flowering and am anticipating about another 4-5 weeks before harvest.
