Hwhobbs' First Hydro Grow - GHF Cheese Fem.

Ok I've made some feeble attempts before with hydro and have come up short mainly due to sex but here's my feminised GHF Cheese baby (other one had death via fan).

Cabinet is completely light proof and sealed from anything and everything. Even intake ducts have filters on them.

1 400W HPS
145 CFM Dayton Blower for exhaust
2 Intake Fans
1 Door Fan
DWC Bubble Bucket

Botanicare Nutes

~80F daytime, 67F night
~30% humidity
pH 5.5
ppm unknown at the moment (meter is fucked up)


Sprouted March 21st from seed, makes it about 5 weeks old. Started 12/12 last night.

Any suggestions or advice is appreciated!

Ok all is going well, the plant is drinking about 1/8 gallon a day so I'm happy about that. I'm seeing some weird patterns on the leaves that leads me to believe I have pests but I inspected the plant thoroughly and cant find any (underside of leaves and on top).

I see some female preflowers as expected, just waiting for the white pistils to pop out.


Some leaves have holes in them or look like they have been chewed, it seems like it happens when they are very small leaves and as they develop into bigger ones I start to see it.

Take a look.

I am also going to need some trimming advice as you can see (or will the stretch take care of it) I'm on day 3 of flower, tonight will be 4th night.

Nothing I'm surprised about but I've had a bad stretch of males (about 12) and finally get this female from Fem. seeds I bought. No surprise its female but I'm ecstatic none-the-less.

Well its been about a week into flower and the plant is really starting to thicken, I may have to tie down some branches. Let me know what you guys think.

Thinking about cloning soon as well, I have some small net pots and some gel, just have to make a little humidified cloner. I'll update when I have that done.

pH has been very stable around 5.8 and I bumped up my ppm to 850. They were drinking a lot on 700 so I upped it a little last night and they drank even more. I'll keep topping off for the next few days then bump it up more.

Thanks man! I'm hoping to get a good amount off this one plant so we'll see what happens. I probably should have vegged more but oh well.

Made the cloning cab and bubbler a couple nights ago and the cuttings have been in since then (about 36 hours). Their old growth is drooping as expected but new growth is developing slowly so I'll have to see if the roots come out or not.


Meanwhile shes growin like.... weed

Another thing.. can anyone tell me when I might start to see some flower development? I'm thinking 3rd-4th week

Looks good.

Don't worry about the holes in the leaf.

I get them also.
This may be caused by the rapid growth,
or may be heat related.

Either way, if it is not spreading
or becoming an insideous problem
I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks Earl, good to hear from you. I think it might be some sort of disease because I topped the plant with dirty scissors the first time. I am still finding new leaves with holes in them as well as mighty deformed leaves that look like they've been chewed on, but no bugs in sight. It seems to be really a problem on only one stem. Hopefully the buds on that stem dont come out deformed as well, that wouldnt be nice.

I haven't figured this one out yet,
but you can see this same problem on tomato plants.

It has never affected the budz on my grow.

Thanks Purple, good to have you. I only have one plant now (originally two) because the other one was a runt and a fan fell on it and chopped it to pieces (shit happens). Now I'm just trying to clone this one so I can get new babies ready for my hydrohut.

My clones have been in the bubbler for about 4 days. Am I being impatient or should I be seeing roots by now?

edit: Is there a better way to get the roots going then how I'm doing it? I saw gonejah's grow and he has his in a ebb/flood bucket. Is that a better idea?

Ok here's an update

I took new cuttings and put them in a new humidity dome so we'll see how those do.

She's still reaaaalllly bushy but has grown to twice her previous size in just a week. Check it.

Her leaves pour out of the cabinet when I open the door, I don't think the undergrowth by the wall and doors are getting enough light, I'll probably trim.
