props!!! + rep yes i should have considered it and tell u now that the stems of many lowrider male plants had signs of rot - i thought thats an accident and upgraded the pots (lol!) to reduce the surface that is touched by drops in a DWC - so it wont be so wet. i think it might be a bad idea now. i still have time to think about hydroton. any advice maty? i wonted to stuck a little 1inch cube into hydroton in the 2 inch bucket or so - will it work? how small was the first busket u grow in? how close do u keep the water surface to the pot and how big is the final pot filled with hydroton? p

Awww.....sorry to hear about your male to female ratio, sucks big time. Still, you have a decent set up so lets hope the next batch is all girls!!

I had lots of bubble action in the seedling dwc from several airstones t'd around in there. I kept the water level just below the 1.5" baskets about a 1/4". After the roots were about 3"-4" long, I pulled the best 4 and moved them to their own 6" baskets buried in hydroton then placed into 5 gallon bucket dwc's for veg and flower. you want to carefully remove the 1.5" basket off of the roots before transplanting into larger basket. I keep the water level about 1" up into the basket until the roots start to show out of the basket, then I drop the level about 1" below the baskets. grow from there. imo, a 2" basket will not provide much support as a flowering plant sometimes has a 2" - 3" stem at the base and will outgrow a 2" basket. I would use at least a 4" basket. instead of hydroton, you can use lava chips. they are cheap and available at your local hardware store. peat pellets are cheap too regards, linedrivr

| well id like to))) but that low low lowrider is too low to become a monster female i keep it at 700 ppm (05 ec) and some CFLs 200w total cant give it more - all other light resources will be focused on those 4 youngsters about to sprout p |

appriciated! i only have 1 DWC for all those lowriders and i dont think i can cut so many 6" holes in there 6" is too big for the lowriders (IMO) - this is good for the big plants and ill do so next time. ive succsesfuly grown 5 big plants using rockwool tho. only lowriders made me worry and i thought this strain is more sensitive to medium moist. i wont be able to make any changes there until the day after tomorow (i dont live where the cab is) and i think they will sprout and drop the roots into rockwool. so i guess ill try to find a solution for a lowrider rockwool grow again - the best i can think of now is to keep the water level further then i used to (make it like 2"). dont think it would make any sense to put those 2" cubes into 4" pots with hydroton. or it does make sense? thanks again man

I would definitely recommend hydroton instead of rockwool as a medium. I put the seeds in 1" rockwool cubes until they sprout and root and then I put them in hydroton for the duration of the grow. I water the plants from the top until the roots drop down. I also found that Lowryder is a pretty resilient strain and fairly easy to grow so you should have good luck with the growing part in the future, just maybe not the sex part because I haven't had one female to date. It does make sense to put the cubes into hydroton, it allows a lot more air to get into the roots. I highly recommend getting some. Peace and good luck. |

it is possible to make all kinds of stff out of males u just need more of them) and they have to be mature - and thats not the thing u want in your garden the lowriders are too small to make anything outta them u need a field of lowriders to do that)))
