Good thinking, man.

I'm probably thinking too far ahead but I want to top these plants...what is the difference in yield between topped or fimmed and untopped.??

By NO means am I an expert, I've just been reading around like yourself. From what I've gathered, topping a plant is cutting the stem just above the first or second set of nodes from the top. This should discourage vertical growth and encourage more foliage growth. An untopped plant will continue to grow tall in the sun (perhaps a bad thing if you're in a semi-public area)

That sound about right to the rest of you?

Here is a good guide that I've read:

topping slows down verticle growth and forces them to bush out some, but they will grow verticle again soon and you will have two main tops instead of one, so you have 2 nice cola`s come harvest time, not sure if it increases or decreses yield.

Here are the pictures for you folks...

Plant 1...looks like the leaves are still a little uneven...not really worrying.

Plant 2...is looking pretty fiiine.

Plant 3...I am very worried about this guy. I figure this condition is from getting pounded with rain, and also due to the large ferns that have now blocked the sun out from this little guy for a good portion of the day.
Oh well...

Plant 4 is doing pretty well, I think.

Now, because I am so worried about plant #3, I planted two more seeds, where it seemed the most daylight shines. I wonder if these will sprout...
I forgot to water them when I planted, but it has been raining a lot, and will continue to rain throughout the week, so I'm not so worried.

Enjoy guys

(Day 14 for 1,2,3,4) + (Day 1 for 5,6?)

I'm not too worried, yeah some plants have to suck, and now I may have 2 more in it's place.

trim the fern back from the runt and just be patient with it, like AW said there is always a runt, but it still could be a female and produce buds, so why not baby it?

I hope so too, man. It would be fine if even one of them was a female and I got a little bud out of this project. Thats all I'm hoping for really...

Six females would be insane. And very very awesome.

i wish my grow this year was simple and in one spot like that I have already put a lot of sweat/back ache and loss of sleep while working a full time job to keep putting plots of plants out But what we growers have to remember is all this work now is going to pay off when we have jars and jars of weed and will be able to smoke out anytime as much as we want year round.

Yeah haha I certainly hope so. Seeing as it's my first grow, I'm going to go about as simple as possible and let nature take it's course on these little green things.
