First Grow...

Hey everyone, last Thursday I put my germinated seedlings into small pots. I was just curious is they were growing correctly etc. For my first attempt i decided i would use regular seeds so i could more easily get the hang of it before i ruined perfectly good seeds. At this moment I'm only using a small lamp light that seems like its working pretty well. When i started i had three total plants, but the other day, i went upstairs and i came back down to find that my light had fell on top of my seedlings and completely scorched one of them. The others suffered minor damage. both of my current plants have started growing their second pair of leaves this morning. Here, take a look and let me know what you think!

the first three pictures are from yesterday witch would be day 6

the next four are from today of plant one. of of the leaves has minor burn damage from the light incident

And the last two have a little more damage but it seems like its on the road to recovery, as it has also started its second pair of leaves.

Alright. just let me know if these are going good or not. and what i should do next. Thanks!

Ok. so it's been 2 days for me to post again... but i got some time now. it's 4/6 today and the plants are growing alot!normaly i only see the growth overnight... but today i saw it at noon and it had grown. then it had grown more at 630! but any ways here are some pictures from today.....

plant 1 -

Plant 2 -

So there it is. it has definitely shown growth in the second pair of leaves size, and the stalk that comes out of the beginning of the plant. But... if anyone has any tips on how i could better grow this plant, i could really use the help. peace

looks pretty good dude.. what kind of light are you using? How far is it? Wouldn't hurt to bury some of that stem in the dirt.

good luck man!

August, this is the first time i have to disagree with you bro
dont bury the stem...you will get stem rott and the plant may take a dump...and DIE!!!

you need to get some good lights on them seedlings...or put em closer about an inch away.....dont use incandacent (spelling) bulbs...only CFL/HPS/or MH..or LED.....i have never seen them stretch that much before ever in my life... i think you set a record dude!!!
and it also looks like you are using WAYYYYyyyy TOO much water...you will drown them. you gotta take care of your babies bro

go to walmart. buy 4 CFL 100 watt Daylight (6500k) lights...its about 17 bucks...
that will hellp you BIG TIME!!!!

and i dont know if you have holes for draining in those little pots or not..but that water will sit in the pot and bacteria will run wild!!! possibly killing your little ones..

good luck man!!
pots are only 88 cents at walmart too.

btw remember...get good soil!! organic!!! bat guano and worm castings...dont get any ferts or feeders!!!`

ive read that as well, but honestly just about every single seed i've planted the stem was buried at one point or another.. i have yet to see any rot. I have heard of it happening though.

August - Hey thanks for the tip. burying the stem made it a little more stable, but i have also tried tying it to a larger stick. It seems like it helping for the most part.

Smashio - right now i tink im using just a 40 watt lamp light bulb.... im not sure what kind it is but i think it may be just a standard light bulb. I would go out and buy some new bulbs... but im sort of in a money crunch and was hoping i could just use the things lying around my house. For a while i was using 2 terrarium light bulbs... but both of them managed to break within a couple days . But anyways, thank for the tips man! ill try going out and finding some better soil too.

i dont think the one on the right is going to make it. it looks like the stem got crushed. the stem acts as a straw for the water/nutrients, and it looks like it has a kink in it. it may live tho.
do you have a garage with flouros in it?? that light your using will just make them stretch untill they fall over.

if you go to walmart and buy 2- 23 watt CFL's and put them over the plants they have a chance. that is the only thing that will possibly save them...and that is cheap...you sure you cant scrounge up 6-7 dollars?

then grab two lamps and set them side by side, and rigg something so the plants will be at the right hieght to get the right amount of light!!

if you dont know what a CFL is ...
look at my grow box.
thats all i use and they are cheap bro!!

well not the enormo ones i got, but the little 26 watters are like $4 a piece.

let me know if you need anything else. throw me a private message or something.
