DWC Northern Light and Big Bud

So, a few weeks ago I started a DWC with some bag seed as my first hydro experiment. Their light schedules were messed up, nutes were added too earlier, and white algae infested their roots. I've started over, and I'm being a lot more cautious this time.
Lighting: Two 105 watt CFLs 2700k (they're about a foot long each O_O)
Nutes: Will be General Hydroponics and on the Lucas Formula

For flowering I'll probably be using a 400 watt HPS. I'm going to build a 56 inch tall stealth cab around it (cool tube, also).

The back three are Northern Light, and the front are Big Bud. They all sprouted about 10-14 days ago:

Week 2, and nutes...

Well, they've reached the two week mark, so I decided to give them quarter strength nutrients. Ph is at a stable 6.0-6.1 .

The Northern Light are doing the best. The top picture is my favorite. The bottom pictures are of some funky looking Big Bud. One's all asymmetrical, and the other one has some curled leaves and a little bit of blackness on the tip of one of the leaves?

looks like mild nute burn. You have to be careful when they are that young my dumb friend thought he could grow and he was adding full strength nutes like 1 day after they sprouted they got burned bad. I had to flush and fix the ph. good luck

Odd, it started before I even thought about giving them nutes (I gave them their first dose today). I had just been giving them water, and the leaf thing started about a week ago.

So, they're really digging the nutrients...they grow noticeably over night! The deformed one of the far left is still deformed, but it's leaves are getting a lot bigger. The bottom middle one is deformed, also, I really don't know why! The back a couple aren't really exploding with growth, I don't know why, but the back middle one is doing the best!

Well, they're getting bigger and starting to smell a bit skunky/piney...except for the one that was bitten by a kitten when it was young, so that sucks. Also, the deformed ones are still pretty messed up looking, but they're getting better.

Talking It's been a while! Week 6-7!

Hey, I haven't updated in a while, but my babies are coming along pretty well. After giving them half strength nutes for a while, the runt in the back corner started to suffer. So, for a week, I just gave them ph balanced water...no nutes. The runt caught up, but I hurt my healthy plants a bit...I weaned them back up to half strength, and I'm going to 75% this week, and hopefully full strength the next week. I might want to flower soon because they're really starting to get vertical! I only topped the back middle one, so far, since the rest aren't really growing on the main cola, more on the side branches. I for sure know the one on the bottom left is a female, her preflowers are coming in already! I think a lot of my leaf yellowing and curling problems are from my closet being too hot...but as of now I really have no ventilation options other than the fan I have running on them 24/7.

Now, I have a question: if any of them are male, what's the best way to cut them out? I have a small DWC, so of course all their roots are intertwined really well. I've read to cut them down to a stump, and barely keep them alive, as completely pulling them will leave dead roots that will rot. Is this the way to go? I don't think there's any way at all that I'd be able to safely cut the roots of individual plants without hurting the rest.

P.S. Growing healthy bushes of pot is so damn fun! I feel like a kid watching my potato experiment growing...

if you have a male, just pull the whole pot out and try to kind of "work" the as much of the roots out as possible

if you leave a few dead ones in there its no big deal as you should be flushing everyonce in a while anyway.

Looks great man, check those nodes every time you go near the plants, often times the bigger ones turn out male, so look for those balls and kill em early!

FYI, your "runt vrs healthy platns" is exactly why you never run this type of set up except with clones off the same plant.

one res per pheno is best

All right, I'm pretty sure the front middle one is a male...it looks like he has balls, that's why I'm getting antsy about getting him out of there without damaging others. Thanks for the wisdom, I've been watching your grows for a while now !
