Getting the hang of this [my journal]

I dont know how many of these threads I have of, either un-finished or un-recorded grows. My last attempts didnt turn out very well. While the product got me lifted, the grows could have gone better. I bought this ebb & flow system and couldnt understand why I was failing at using it properly. So I came to the conclusion that the plugs werent deep enough in the pots and that was exactly what it was. Heres whats going down now...

Seeds were started off in Rapid Rooter plugs and all germinated successfully. I germ'd 3 Blue Mystics, 2 K2's and 2 Nirvana Mix seeds. The variety in the N.M. was Skunk #1, Afghani, Master Kush, Pure Power Plant, and Nirvana Special. I probably wont know what the mix seeds will be until they are completely trimmed and cured, or I might never know. Whatever.

With a total of 7 thriving plants, 4 ended up being males. 2 Blue Mystics, 1 K2 and one mix seed ended up being males. The 3 female plants are growing very well; however, the BM is kinda wimpy and there arent as many bud sites as the others, and the internode space is rather large. The K2 is looking fantastic, but I'm getting the idea that she doesn't like much nutrient solution seeing as how the tips of the leaves are curling down and very few have small burns on the ends while the other two plants dont have the same problem. The mix seed plant is also looking very healthy and bushy, internode spacing is short and there are plently of bud sites, no problems at all.

The pump turns on for 15 minutes every 6 hours. I am using Flora Nova nutes from General Hydroponics which havent given me any trouble since I've been using it on a few other grows. Although; I dont have the eye for differences in other kinds of nutrients, the plants look like they're loving what they have.

The plants showed their first sign of sex about 4-5 weeks ago. I had my calendar on my phone to keep track of dates and it got run over by a car while I was on vacation and seeing as how I smoke a fair amount of weed I forgot the day they showed sex, so this is all an estimate. Im gonna have to get a scope anyway...

Oh yeah this is my... Lighting- 400W digital ballast, MH for veg & HPS for flower, with 6" air cooled reflector. Inline fan and reflector duct for the light.

Let me start off by saying, I dont have very much experience with cloning. I took cuttings from both of the mix seed plants and of course one of them turned out to be a male which I didnt expect at the time. So any how, the cuttings got mixed up after my dog pulled my cloning dome out of its cabinet, they all fell out and got mixed but not harmed. I used Rootech cloning gel and Rapid Rooter starter plugs for my process and they took about 10 days for the roots to shoot through the plugs and the pictures below are 13 days old. Had 2 T8 cool white flourescent bulbs lighting them 24 hrs. a day.

Im just curious though, are the leaf discolorations normal and what are the buldges at the bottom of the stem from, normal?

So got some pics today of the girls, they're looking pretty good. I changed the solution last night but still not at full strength. The K2 still doesnt like as much nute solution as the other two plants so Im trying to work it up to full strength. I think the pH was too low though, I checked it and I dont think I was paying attention. I thought it said 5.5 buuut I checked it again this morning and it was under 5! I put some slightly alkanline fresh water in the resivior to even it out, mixed it up and checked again and it was good, so Im all set with that.

Its been about 4ish weeks since actual flowering started and the leaves are starting to get covered in trichs. The K2's top cola is pretty fat looking and its super dense, you can def. tell its an indica. The mix plant looks freakin awesome! Its got plenty of healthy looking bud-sites and its a huge bush! My Blue Mystic plant is lagging behind, it just seems like its not growing the way it should.

I'm not sure if you can tell in the pics, but the calyx's on the K2 are getting fat as hell. I'm guessing that means the rest are going to get that big? Also, I found one single male flower on the mix plant, hopefully more dont show up. I looked all over for more and couldnt find any.

So I went to the hydro shop today to get some supplies and I was just browsing while I hear the door chime and I turned to see my first other fellow grower.... it was a bit obvious. These two wanksters roll up into the place talkin shit about cloning hormones and smelling like they just got out of a hot box. It made me happy to see what my fellow farmers are like around here .... but not, lol.

Anyhow, I started germinating 4 or those mix seeds to veg until my current grow is complete. Im gonna switch it up a bit and take out the ebb & flow setup and do 3 plants in 5 gallon buckets, two in soil and one in a waterfarm drip system I have. Ill add my 250 watt HPS to the 400 watter that already in there when I start. I figure I can veg the plants for about 4-5 weeks and get them nice and bushy before I move the into the closet for flowering. I just really want to do a worth while soil grow! Even though hydro is hip and futuristic and when you know what youre doing its very low maintenance. I went on vacation and knew my plants would be fine without contact for the time I was gone, I cant trust anyone to water my plants for me while I'm gone, way too risky. Maybe I can set up an automated watering system for myself in the future...

Nice to see they were so.....discrete... about what they're growing, isn't it . And then they'll wonder why they got busted a couple months down the road lol.

The shops around here will actually kick people out for doing stuff like that. It's the only way they can preserve the illusion that the equipment they're selling is only used for legal purposes.

Mornin everyone! Got some new pics of the plants today. The pistils on the K2 are starting to turn orange and the leaves are getting frosty as hell. The top cola looks like its going to be a very heavy nug, its freakin fat! The mix plant is weird though, I think Im having a small problem with it. Theres a small nitrogen def. and the plant is getting too tall for the space, I cant raise the light anymore and its bleaching out the newer leaf sets. Oh well, time to adjust the room setup. The budsites on the mix and the Blue Mystic look really fluffy, will they be getting more compact as time goes on?

I wanted to try testing out flowering clones so I did. The Blues lower branches were pretty small and the budsites were as well so I cut of 6 small branches and put em through the process. I was using Rootech gel for my clones and was getting a 20-30% rooting success with my clones. I have a plug sheet with a dome and a heat mat, made sure to always keep the dome sprayed, the heat mat was on most of the time cause it didnt keep it heated at all unless it was on, and I have a flouro fixture on 24/7. I wanted to try Rootone powder, heard it worked great. So now Im gonna keep a very close watch on these flowering clones to make sure everything goes well.
