Looks awesome! Great job on the setup.

You need to let the roots grow long enough so that they can reach the water. Otherwise you'll be stuck hand watering them several times a day.

That or get a really small pump and set up some sort of drip system to water them until they grow enough.

thanks, I appreciate the comments on the build (and the info about when they can go in)

I put a reasonable amount of thought into it and played around with a few ideas before building the smaller veg system

that's what this one is, a small "veg for a few weeks" system

I still gotta adjust the ph for the first time, it's just water and pounds of lavarock in the bottom of the root zone for now

they're in the system

got the no nutes water to 5.8 and put them in! 2 had a root out the bottom and I'll have to water them by hand now and then anyway, so I could not wait!

took LOTs of friggin PH down to get it from 7, am used to doing a few drops per gallon, this damn thing needed like 35 ML

I cant convert that to oz being an american of course, but it was a shitload!

am really glad I got that big CFL too

I usually use 1 20 or 25 watt bulb per plant but this thing is so much brighter and I did not even get/build a reflector for it yet

$50 for the bulb and $25 for the fixture which can attach to an standard reflecttor if I spaz out and cannot build something

nobody says spaz any more do they?

& I should have changed the flash setting on the camera but am too lazy

will need to get a fan on them asap, wasn't expecting them to jump out as fast as they did, figured I still had time...

ppm of the water is a tad high at 244 before nutes, but I aint getting an RO system this week so we'll see how it goes...

and as a quick aside...

thanks for the input on the system and the method over the past few months MrGS!

I would have built a system for sure, but definatly not this one!

It came out pretty damn good for a second system (and I did not need a drop of silicone!)

ppplllbbbtttt!!!! (that's a rasberry spelt out, now wipe your monitor off)

Surprise is one word for it. Hope your floor is nice and comfortable

Haven't tried any white russian yet, but I've heard good things about it.

The widow, now that I've gotten used to it, is.....nice . Well, aside from the taste, that is. Someone said it tastes like diesel fuel, and while I've never had the misfortune of actually tasting diesel fuel, my imagination suggests he's probably not too far off the mark lol. But the high is awesome, and a little goes a long way.

Oh, and when you get it harvested, be sure to keep all your trimmings. I just made some hash from my widow trim and that stuff is something else. One hit had me in orbit for a good 4 1/2 hours lol.

diesel fuel huh?

really? and that's after it's properly cured?

I have tried the ice/water way and it sucked, am thinking about trying butane next, saved lottsa trimmings from the last round

Yeah. If anything the curing *enhanced* the flavor since all of the plant taste went away lol.

I've just been using the ice/water meathod...sort of a ghetto bubble has. Throw the trim in a blender with some water and ice. Transfer it to a big pitcher and let it settle a bit. Filter out the big stuff with one of those gold reusable coffee filters. Let it settle again. Then syphon off the top half and run the bottom half through paper coffee filters. It's not the best, but I can't see investing in another method when all I've got is the trim from one plant.

That's exactly what I did the one time I tried to make hash...

Was with a lotta of plants and I made such a huge mess in the kitchen with stuff dripping all owver into bowls and not having a really good blender did not help either

I was considering butter or butane next but then work got crazy busy and I havent done anything yet...

It doesn't matter how dry the trimmings get does it?

I got plant parts all over the place, don't think one of them is in an airtight anything

Don't think so. Mine have been crispy dry both times I did it. I think the secret is to work in small batches and to keep everything cold throughout the entire process. This last time I did 3 or 4 batches in the blender and transfered everything to a 1 gallon pitcher and left it in the fridge for a couple hours to settle. Then did the reusable filter strain and put it back in the fridge for a couple more hours before I ran it through the paper filters.

good to hear

I dunno if or when I will try to make something out of them, so it's good that how dry doesn't matter!

Having never cooked anything with cannabis before I may try butter and make some brownies this time

That seems easy enough and a bit less work

I like your setup. Not familiar with exactly how it works but lookin good.

ISO hash is easy to make. It takes overnight for the ISO to all evaporate but it does work and it's easy. I tried the butane once. The leaves and sticks I used musta not had anything in them cuz very little (if anything) came out of the tube. I tried making ISO hash with it after that and there was nothing left in it. I will try it again some day when I have some good bud to use. That honey oil sounds like good stuff.

Last night I made some civiche. That is fresh tomato, red onion, serano pepper and celantro all chopped up and made into something like salsa or pico. Normally raw fish and lime juice is added to this but I always just add boiled shrimp to it. Today I tried something new. Took some dried finger leaves from bud from past grows and ground it into a fine dust. I added a little olive oil to this dust, just enough to get it all wet. Let that stand for about 10 minutes then added it to my civiche. It tasted great and gave me a nice buzz. About a spoonfull per serving works good.

Why don't you leave your plants in those 4" pots after they get some roots?

Those roots should have plenty of room hanging down into the tub and you might have trouble getting the roots out of those 4" pots without damaging them.

Good luck...

ISO evaporating over night?
Not a chance.
You'd better be prepared to wait a week.
ISO refers to iso propyl alcohol which means iso propanol.
Are you sure you are not referring to ethanol?
(which is sold a lot less pure then iso propanol making it less suitable for hash making, but it does evaporate faster)

p.s. : and butane? are you tired of life?
