My First Grow, Stealth Grow Box.......

Hi All,

This is going to be my first solo grow. I have grown a few times with buddies, but this is the first time the grow setup is at my place. I have always roomed with friends, but I have a random roommate now, and I feel safer if he doesn't know I'm growing. So when I started drawing up ideas, the key issues were keeping the light in and noise from fans and light. The grow box I drew up on CAD I think will do the job. Take a look at the pictures. I am starting out with bag seed and my second grow I'm looking to buy some seeds, so any referrals let me know.

I have a ...
250 W MH light
250 W HPS Light
4" Vortex Fan
6"x10" Carbon Filter

GROW PLAN:
Grow plants to 12" to 14"
Flower til sex shows
Cut males down
Take strongest/healthiest female, and put back to veg
Once other females are done and has budded, take clones from mother plant.
Once clones flower and are done start all over and buy seeds
Repeat with seeds

I will be growing from soil, since the last time we tried hydro it looked awesome til 4 weeks into flowering and died in less than 3 days. I think it was ph issues. To play it safe I will use dirt, since I know it is a little more forgiving.

These first pictures are of the box, and I just planted seeds into solo cups.

Alright already need some help, my plants have become really tall (3") and they are just pushing out their first true leaves. So I think I am going to transplant in a week or so and try to have the bottom of the first leaves just above the soil. If anyone knows some real good transplant techniques let me know.

Day 6

Grow closet is coming along nicely. My order for carbon filter, fan, and hps light was cancelled for some reason so I have to reorder. Here are a few pics of the plants. I think I am going to buy seeds within the next few weeks, since I didn't get as many plants as I thought I would.

A good way to transplant is to let the soil dry out a bit so it doesn't stick to the side that much.
Roll the cups sides between your hands a bit gently.
Then put your hand on the top of the cup as you would holding it upside down, with the stem between your fingers.
Then hold it upside down and tap the bottom a bit.
TADA!

I'm assuming you'll know what to do once you are holding that miniplant and mini clump of soil in your hand.

Day 7

One week down and they are starting to shoot up. My humidity is still pretty low, even with all the open water laid out. Any ideas to increase to around 60 - 75%? I also bought a tapestry thing to cover the opening, still have to put glass doors back up. Hopefully vortex fan, and carbon filter should arrive soon. Nutrients and new containers got sent out today. The two sided black and white poly film should arrive tomorrow so I will probably have pictures of the grow box lined and partitioned up by Friday.

Day 9

Got the poly liner and covered most of the cabinet. I am still deciding if i am going to do all the way up to the top. Check out the pictures at the bottom.

What Left to Do:

• Seperate grow box into veg and flower (this weekend)
• Cover opening with poly film (this weekend)
• Attach vortex fan, carbon filter, air intake (next week once items received)
• Hang HPS 250W light (next week once received)
• Buy seeds [5 Dutch Passion Fem Blueberry and 5 DP Fem White Widow] (within next two weeks)

DAY 13

4" Inline Fan, Carbon Filter, 4" Tubing, New Pots, and Nutes should all be arriving within next two days, so the grow closet will finally be finished within the next few days. Keep checking in for new updates and pics.

Day 14

Finally received Fox Farm nutes, new containers ,HPS light, and another 6" fan. Vortex fan, 4' tube, and carbon filter arrive tomorrow. The grow box is finally going to be finished this weekend!!! I am pumped that I will have the putting together finally done and focus on just growing.

I transplanted today into the new containers, (see new pics) and ran out of soil so I am going to go back and buy another bag of Fox Farm Ocean Forest. I decided not to put a full board across the box to partition it. I instead am going to have two 3" boards sticking out on each side and attach poly film to each to separate. This will make it easier to cut holes to put tubing and wires through, while still keeping light from veg out of flower part.

I guess thats it for now, and i'll try to have new pics up as fast as i can!!!

DAY 15

Received Vortex fan and carbon filter today! Installed the fan, going to wait until flowering to install carbon filter and to add middle partition. I did put the boards up that the poly film will be attached to, to divide box. Added Poly film to outside of each chamber to keep light in. They have velcro on outside so very easy to access each side. Once grow box is partitioned, you should be able to go into the vegetative chamber without letting light into the flowering chamber.

Also the whole stealth situation has worked out perfectly!!!!

When poly film is down and doors shut there is...

NO LIGHT!
VERY VERY LITTLE SOUND! (can't be heard outside my room)
AND WILL BE NO SMELL! (once flowering has started)

I am going to take a few days off so probably post around day 20!

the girls look good, and i really think you had the right idea using poly instead of wood to partition your cab, its hard to keep temps the same with a wooden wall inbetween, but plastic dosnt hold heat or cold in as good as wod

I really like your box, well done bro. I figure thats as stealthy as you can get for real plants, I'm not a fan of the computer grows.

What CAD program do you use? I was looking for something like that.

rhinoceros by nurbs. its pretty expensive so isuggest downloading a pirated version.

Day 17

HPS light wouldn't fit into cabinet so I had to cut off 2" off the reflector. Looks just like it did out of the box though. Hung the light and also decided to hang the carbon filter. I decided since the plants won't really smell til flowering I didn't hook the carbon filter up to the fan, to save the carbon. The grow box is complete until I decide to flower, which might be soon. Once I decide to flower I will separate the cabinet, and connect the carbon filter to vortex fan. I will probably be looking at different ways to make a cloner out of parts at a hydro store. I don't wanna pay for the expensive cloners, yet create one like those. If anyone has made one and it works great let me know.

That's all for now, I will add plant shots in a few days. The transplant slowed them up for a day, but I just added first nutrients to them, and they look to be back to their old pace of growing. Check out new pics!
